Women in clergy trooped out in their numbers in protest of the recent happenings in Nigeria. The group which comprises female Pastors, Prophetesses, Rev. Sisters, Pastor’s wives and evangelists say they are ready to use every means, including their ‘bre'ast’ to pray to God for intervention. The women said they are ready to use the power of women as manifested in the Bible to rise against violence in the country. 

The group who were all clad in black attires said they were ready to strip and pray to God, using the very ‘breast’ the Boko Haram insurgents sucked at some point to reach out to God in Protest.

Speaking during the protest march that metamorphosed into a courtesy call at the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission in Abuja, where the Association took their protest to the Executive Director, one of the women of God, Pastor Mama Praise said:

"We stand with the authority of the most high and declare today that all forms of violence in our land be put to an abrupt end. These Boko Haram members were all born by women, and at some point, we fed them with our bre'ast, the same bre'ast will be a curse unto them if we expose it while crying to God and pointing it to the high heavens."

Also speaking , the President, Nigerian women in clergy, Prophetess Nonnie Roberson said Nigerian women were angry over the ongoing event in the country, particularly the inversion of the country by Boko Haram terrorists. While introducing the group to the Director, she said "we are ordained women ministers of God who have taken up our responsibilities as wailing women as posited in Jeremiah chapter 9. Our mission is taking a spiritual stand against injustice in the Land. We engage and operate in spiritual warfare and advocacy having been mandated to raise our voices for the voiceless woman; we are advancing against the wickedness in the land like Deborah, rebuilding the walls like Nehemiah and displacing the ungodly like Esther. We are also committed to intercession, projecting peace, supporting good governance and promoting righteousness in the leadership of our dear Nation."

Responding, the Executive Director of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, John Kennedy, thanked the women for their patriotism. While emphasising on the importance of women in nation building, Kennedy said whenever women cry to God, He listens, affirming that it is time they ask God to intervene on the ongoing violence unleashed on Nigerians.

A 200 level student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU,Ago Iwoye, Olawale Made,30, has been shot dead in a cultists’ clash in Ijebu Ode, western Nigeria.
He was killed around his residence in Imowo area, in the outskirts of Ijebu Ode around 8:15pm Thursday night.

One of the brothers confirmed Olawale’s membership of Aiye cult group.

“I just received a call from my father that Wale has been killed by some boys,suspected to be cult boys. Later,I put a call across to some of my friends and his friends and I was told that he has paid his own price.I requested to know what that means,I was told that he too has been killed in the way he and his people have been killing others.
“I know that he belongs to Aiye cult group and on several occasions,we have called him, advised him to move away from such nasty group, but,he never listened. Now,he will be regretting his actions and inactions while alive and his death will serve as a big lesson for others, who are willing to learn and change”, he posited.

Asari Dokubo Dares Boko Haram Commander, Shekau

I just hope Nigeria can cope with the problems that Boko Haram will create in this country.

Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, has dared Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, to be prepared to meet him on the battle field.

Asari, who dismissed the threats by Shekau against President Goodluck Jonathan, warned that 2015 election in Nigeria would be “more than do-or-die.”

In the words of Asari Dokubo:

“They are starting oo! Shekau (Boko Haram leader) said in his video that we should not play with them. He said ‘Goodluck, I am coming for you. Niger Delta, we are coming for you.’ Are we going to allow them? They will shoot the guns; throw the bombs and that is when we will dance. 

“2015 is more than do-or-die. It is our very survival that is being challenged; it is our very existence that is being challenged and we must tell them; you are a man and I am a man, we are going to meet at the battlefield. Be prepared, be watchful. The enemies should not be allowed. In this region, there will be only one vote.”

The ex-Niger Delta militant leader spoke on Thursday night during a strategic partnership session with former militant leaders organised by the Niger Delta Development Commission. Asari-Dokubo said that the people of Niger Delta would not be deterred by any threat to them or President Jonathan and added that the 2015 election remained a challenge to the survival of the people of the region.

Asari also dismissed the call by the North for the scrapping of NDDC and the reduction of 13% derivation to five percent, adding that such call from the North will be ignored.

“The people from the North have said that NDDC should be scrapped. They said 13% derivation should be reduced to five percent and that nobody owns oil.

“We have to gather again and tell them (North) that they dare not do it. If they (North) try it now, they will see it. It is because our brother is the President; that is why we are hanging it (our weapons).”

The Many Sins Of Ahmed Gulak

Think of been used and dumped, the case of ex-adviser on political matters to President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, comes to mind. The Barrister’s unguarded statements and unruly behavior have turned him to a liability capable of causing collateral damage to the president and his political ambition. He created unnecessary enemies for his principal. 

Some staunch loyalists of Mr President have at some point expressed concern that he might have been a fifth columnist, planted in Jonathan’s government to play a script of unseen hands. 

The former Adamawa state House of Assembly Speaker, tried in vain to spin his mortifying dismissal from the presidency as a honourable resignation to pursue a political ambition in his state.

If some of the vile comments credited to Ahmed Gulak were vituperations from Asari Dokubo, one would understand but not from a political adviser to the President.

His opinion on politics are taken as the official position of the president on such issues. That was how weighty his statements were as the president’s mouth piece. 

The quest for cheap popularity and vain glory or overzealousness if you want to be nice to him, has become his undoing. What now happens to his chest thumping like a schoolboy, a promise to take a bullet for President Jonathan? Now that he has shot himself in the foot by consistently talking before thinking, one wonders what will become of his political career as he leaves the presidency. He will return to face a lot of persons he has hurled insults at and you can be sure they’ll reward him in his own coin, politically.

Apparently, of all his reckless and peevish remarks, the one that stands him out is the position he took on behalf of President Jonathan in the aftermath of Governor Amaechi’s emergence as Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) chairman.

“As far as the President is concerned,” said Gulak, “Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state is the Chairman of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum and not Governor Amaechi.” Gulak had made a choice for the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, a public disclosure, declaring Gov Jang, the loser of a credible election with only 16 votes, as the winner, while Gov Amaechi, who polled 19, became the loser. Here was the president endorsing illegality by the unguarded remarks of his aide.

As Gulak’s irascible disposition has shown, the baggage Jonathan carries along in some aides like Doyin Okupe, Labaran Maku, Reno Omokri and Reuben Abati, who see every attack on the president as an opportunity to “open fire”, often times, bring the office of the President to disrepute.

Maybe the scales has fallen off the President’s eyes, maybe he felt Gulak has been manipulating him all the while. Mr Gulak’s job description revolves around polishing the image of the president in matters political but he chose instead to abuse anyone that expresses positive but dissenting opinion. 

Some months back, there was this speculative report in newspapers that Obasanjo had dumped Jonathan, and that the former president was equally considering quitting the PDP. Ahmed Gulak, was asked to speak on behalf of his principal who will all know is Obasanjo’s protégé.

He pulled the trigger: “I will like to say with all sense of responsibility that Nigerians should not make God out of Obasanjo. Obasanjo is not God, and it is only God that gives a person power, it is only God that can say Mr A, you will be president, and it will come to pass. No human being can play God.” One would have expected a more circumspect response since the reports were merely speculative, but not with Gulak.

With such a vacuous comment, he pitched the President with Obasanjo. Agreed, no human being can play God but we were witnesses to how Obasanjo almost singlehandedly ensured Jonathan progressed politically from deputy governor in Bayelsa state to President elect. 

“Obasanjo was part of the system from 1976 to 1979, and then from 1999 to 2007. Obasanjo should play the role of a father figure, to advise and not to keep poke-nosing into the affairs of the nation, to choose people who should run and who should not.” That was Gulak as his bellicose best again, slamming the Ota farmer for purportedly endorsing (according to unsubstantiated newspaper reports, again) Governors Sule Lamido and Rotimi Amaechi as presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, of the PDP in 2015. Truth is, Obasanjo is part of the leadership crisis in the country today, but such remarks should not come from Jonathan’s aide.

Of Dr Junaid Mohammed, Gulak had said he suffers from “diarrhoea of the mouth,” adding that the man “enjoys sitting in his comfort zone and criticising.” A case of pot calling kettle black.

Still smarting from his heroics of hurling insults, it was time for former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, an opposition politician, to take his share of Gulak’s smear. He described El-Rufai as “the most disappointing young man in the country.” 

Not showing any signs of slowing down in the business of gathering enemies for his boss, he took on another role as Special Adviser in Imo as he commented on Gov Rochas Okorocha’s reluctance to comply with a court judgement on the tenure of local government chairmen. 

He garrulously reacted: “What Okorocha has done is illegal and unconstitutional, and where democracy thrives, these are acts that are impeachable. It is just unfortunate that the members of the Imo State House of Assembly have not taken up the matter.” 

In that swagger – reminiscent of young talented musicians who just hit the spotlight - of an arrogant and unruly presidential aide, he took a swipe at the National Assembly when a stand-off ensued over Budget 2013. 

According to him, “you cannot rule out 2015 because what I always say, and I keep on saying is that, people should not use their ambition to jettison national issues.” He said National Assembly members should be blamed for poor budget implementation through delayed passage of the Appropriation Bill, and even added that the lawmakers had problem with understanding the budget, because a lot of them were illiterates. That Gulak was described as a fifth columnist in Jonathan’s government by a taciturn Senate President, David Mark, was an indication that he hit the members of the Red chamber below the belt.

Another aide of the President would have none of this. Mrs Joy Emodi (though, like Gulak, she has been sacked), Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly, quickly distanced Mr President from the controversial lawyer turned politician: “Let me state categorically that the alleged statements neither reflect the views of the President on the National Assembly, nor the enormous respect he has for the institution. In other words, those to whom the statements were credited were on their own, and never spoke the mind of the president.” 

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, had delivered the Second Zik Annual Lecture Series in Awka, Anambra State, where he stressed that 21st Century Nigeria needed knowledgeable leadership at all levels. He submitted that some parts of the South-East should always send their very best in the mould of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe to the National Assembly (NASS), given the abundance of intellectuals in the states. Gulak did not waste time in twisting Ekweremadu’s speech: “The Deputy Senate President said some legislators could barely write their names. He said so. Go and read it. He said so, I did not say it. So, if most of them can barely write their names, then how will they understand the intricacies of budget? I did not say it. It is the Deputy Senate President that said it, and he really said it. So it means the National Assembly has a long way to go.” Gulak in his disingenuity, spinned Ekweremadu’s comment as all NASS members from around the country are illiterates.

Ekweremadu’s aide in a swift reply released a statement that summarised Gulak’s tenure as political adviser to President Jonathan; Gulak is “either oblivious of his job schedule or lacking the competence to undertake it.”

SMH! Nigeria Not Poor… Did Jonathan Just Say This?

Sometimes I wonder whether it is just me, or there is simply something about this Jonathan. Something empty, shallow, sinister and very dark. When I look at him, I think of God, the Bible, Quran, Lucifer, the battles of the prophets and messiah’s—the lion’s den, the well, the cave, the cross.

I see real hard ish: Snake, serpent; demons and the power and reality of guardian angels. Perhaps I should stop reading his speeches so I do not lose my mind. Perhaps I should just give up on Nigeria revolting, to get rid of the most worthless who are at the helm. Perhaps this is the way of things. Perhaps death, terror, pain, poverty and sorrow upon sorrow are simply the destiny of my people. I see bondage, torture, exasperation, orphandom. This time, I will not translate or expatiate. I present to you reader, Nigeria’s President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, uncut. You decide:

“Nigeria is not a poor country. Nigerians are the most travelled people. There is no country you go that you will not see Nigerians. The GDP of Nigeria is over half a trillion dollars and the economy is growing at close to 7 percent. 

“Aliko Dangote was recently classified among the 25 richest people in the World.

“I visited Kenya recently on a state visit and there was a programme for Nigerian and Kenyan business men to interact and the number of private jets that landed in Nairobi that day was a subject of discussion in Kenyan media for over a week.

“If you talk about ownership of private jets, Nigeria will be among the first 10 countries, yet they are saying that Nigeria is among the five poorest countries.

“Some of you will experience that there is an amount of money you will give to a Nigerian who needs help and will not even regard it and thank you but if you travel to other countries and give such an amount, the person will celebrate.

“But the World Bank statistics shows that Nigeria is among the five poorest countries. Our problem is not poverty, our problem is redistribution of wealth.”

So, who will rescue Nigeria and redistribute the wealth if the President is incapable of doing so?

Blood Spirit’ Told Me To Attack Nursing Mother & Behead Her Baby –Murder suspect

32-year-old Bashir Ibrahim is currently being held at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State, for raping a nursing mother and beheading her baby.

The Sokoto State indigene, who said he had lived in Ofada in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State for seven years working as labourer, tried as much as he could to prove that his crime was not premeditated in  a conversation with Saturday PUNCH on Tuesday.

“Ah, this spirit that possessed me did not do well at all. I just wanted to sleep with her. I did not intend to rape her,” he began.

Ibrahim told Saturday PUNCH that the woman, who cannot be named because of the sensitivity of the case, was his neighbour.

He said he had known the woman, who is a food vendor, for years and that in fact, they lived within a walking distance of each other. Ibrahim said, 

“I used to buy Tuwo (a Hausa staple food) from her. But that day (Saturday, April 12, 2014), I approached her and told her I wanted to sleep with her. I told her I would pay her N500 but she said that was too small. But when I agreed to pay N1,000, she agreed.
“When it was night, I followed her to an uncompleted building not too far from where we live and I told her to put down her baby. She was carrying the boy on her back at the time.
“Immediately I started to have sex with her, the blood spirit just entered me. All I could see was blood. The spirit immediately pushed me to take the dagger I had on me and I started stabbing her.”

Punch correspondent interrupted him and asked why he took a dagger there if he didn’t intend to kill her in the first place.

But he said the dagger was one item he normally took around with him. He said because of the job he did, he used it as hunting knife anytime he worked in the bush. Ibrahim continued, 

“She screamed as I started stabbing her. I did not know what I was doing. The woman is at least twice my size. I could not have been able to pin her down if not because I was possessed.
“The woman was screaming as I tried to kill her. But she later escaped and left her baby behind. I looked at the baby on the ground and he was crying. The spirit again pushed me and I held the baby down. I slaughtered him as we normally slaughter rams. I left the body there and wrapped the head in a nylon bag.”

Still possessed by the ‘blood spirit,’ Ibrahim told Saturday PUNCH that he went home, said his prayers and slept off.

The head of the infant he had severed was safely tucked under a bush close to his house.

He woke up the following day, he narrated, still possessed by the demon.

“By the time I woke up on Sunday morning, I was still seeing the blood. I went to take the head where I put it. There was no way you would see it and know I was carrying a human head. I wrapped it in two nylon bags and went to Mowe to take a bus to Ibadan, “I went to a woman who sells ingredients of herbal medicine in the market and pretended that I wanted to buy pile concoction. But she noticed that I was carrying a nylon bag and asked what it contained.
“I told the woman it contained a child’s head for sale. She first expressed shock but later offered to buy the head for N120,000 but the woman said she would pay N3,000 first and that I should come back the following day for N117,000. But I did not like that. I returned the money and took back the head.
“I did not know what to do with the head at that moment and I went to hide it in a bush. I came back to Ofada and by Monday morning, the spirit was gone. I saw the blood no more. I have three children myself. They live with their mother in Sokoto. I would not have ordinarily killed a child if I was not possessed.”

But the police have said his story was a carefully crafted pack of lies.

A policeman who was part of the team investigating the case said the mother of the slain child had a deep knife cut on her neck where Ibrahim had tried to slaughter her.

“She was actually the target. The woman was lucky to have escaped but unfortunately left her child behind.

Adejobi said the physical health of the mother of the baby had improved following the attack but added that she might require extensive treatment for psychological trauma having been raped and seen her child killed.

Man Kills & Buries His 7-Year-Old Daughter Over Plate Of Rice In Akwa-Ibom

A 29- year-old man, Kingsley Ekeret, is currently cooling his heels at the Homicide section of the Rivers State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, for allegedly beating his seven- year-old daughter to death, for eating his plate of rice.

The suspect, a commercial bus driver who hails from Nto Osung community in Ikot Ekpene LGA of Akwa -Ibom state was saddled with the responsibility of catering for his three children alone, after his wife reportedly abandoned them.

He returned home at about 7pm on April 12, 2014, hungry and went for the pot of rice he had prepared before leaving for work only to meet an empty pot. Report said he angrily charged at Favour and unleashed his beastly tendencies on the innocent girl on discovering she was the one that ate the food.rice

Neighbours said that explanations by the ailing child that she shared the food with her siblings when they were hungry fell on deaf ears. Her health, as gathered, aggravated and unfortunately she died hours later.

According to the police, revealed that on noticing the motionless state of his daughter, Kingsley placed her body at a corner of his one room apartment in Obeama, Oyigbo Local Government Area where his two other children of ages two and three respectively were sleeping.   He, thereafter, wrapped the corpse in one of his clothes at the wee hours of the next day and armed with a shovel, he reportedly dug a shallow grave behind his apartment where he buried the remains of Favour and went about his normal business.

But the bubble burst after the caretaker of the building, one Ugwu, who noticed the unusual disappearance of Favour, demanded for her whereabouts from her father.   Ekarete was said to have told the care-taker that his daughter took ill and was rushed to a hospital in Umuebulu community where she died. Curious Ugwu reportedly insisted on seeing the corpse, promising to assist in providing money to bury her, a request the suspect refused to oblige.

US embassy in Nigeria warns of possible terror attack on Sheraton Hotel in Lagos

The United States Embassy in Nigeria yesterday Friday May 2nd issued a warning to U.S citizens, asking them to avoid Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, and also said 'groups associated with terrorism' are planning an attack on Sheraton Hotel in Lagos.

The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to Nigeria and recommends that U.S. citizens avoid all travel to Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states because of the May 14, 2013 state of emergency proclamation for those three states by the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As of late April, groups associated with terrorism allegedly planned to mount an unspecified attack against the Sheraton Hotel in Nigeria, near the city of Lagos. There was no further information regarding which of the two Sheraton Hotels in Lagos was the possible target, or if both of the Sheraton Hotels are possible targets. Doctors’ Strike Caused Amaka Igwe’s Death – Husband

Film maker, writer, and television drama producer, Mrs. Amaka Igwe passed away on Monday night in Enugu and her husband, Mr. Charles Igwe has revealed that the ongoing Doctor’s strike led to the death of his wife.
Narrating how Amaka died, her bereaved husband said:

“we were in Enugu preparing for her new soap, and Amaka was taking some of the people through acting when she had an asthma attack. After using inhaler without success, she was taken to a nearby hospital, but we were told that the doctor was not around.
We then went to the teaching hospital in Enugu, where we were again told that the Doctors were on strike. It was while we were taking her to another hospital that she died.”

2 Cameroonian Nationals in Police Custody Over Last Night's Abuja Bomb Attack

Two suspects identified as Cameroonian nationals have been nabbed and are currently in police custody in connection with last night’s devastating bomb blast in Nyanya, Abuja.


According NewsExpressNgr, Force Spokesman Frank Mba disclosed this in Abuja while briefing newsmen. Mba said only 19 people died, 31 were injured by the blast, which happened around 8pm near a police checkpoint and opposite the bus station bombed by Boko Haram in the morning of April 14, officially killing 75 people and injuring over 200. He, however, assured that the police are on the trail of other suspects.

According to eye witnesses, they had seen a man suspected to be the bomber pack a white Volkswagen Golf car in the vicinity of Wazobia Park and walked away, shortly after which the bomb went off.

British Airways Plane Forced Into Emergency Landing As Nigerian Woman Gives Birth At 36,000ft

A plane flying from Nigeria to London had to make an emergency landing on a Spanish island when a woman gave birth in business class.
The 30-year-old Nigerian woman went into labour 36,000 feet up, causing the pilot of the British Airways plane to divert to Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands.
The woman was 26 weeks into her pregnancy when she went into labour.

The plane touched down and she was raced to hospital with her newborn who had been delivered at the island's Palma Son Sant Joan airport with the help of the cabin crew.
Both the mother and her premature newborn remain in hospital but are said to be stable.
Under BA regulations, pregnant woman can fly on their planes until the end of their 36th week, or 32nd week if carrying more than one baby.
The plane, a Boeing 777 carrying 296 passengers, was en-route from Abuja, Nigeria to London when she went into labour.
Once the emergency was dealt with, the plane continued on to the UK, arriving two hours late.
A spokesman for British Airways said: 'Our cabin crew, who are trained in birthing procedures, assisted with the delivery of a baby on board our flight from Abuja.
'The Captain diverted the aircraft to Palma so that mum and baby could be taken to hospital.
'We are in touch and will continue to provide any support and help we can.
'We wish the mother and her little one all the very best.'
