Hoodlums Strangle,Cut off woman's private part in Lagos
A woman has been strangled to death by yet-to-be identified persons, who also cut off her private parts.
Her corpse was abandoned on Oniyanrin Street in the Mile 12, Ketu area of Lagos State.
Punch Metro learnt that people living in the area discovered that there was no gunshot wound or stab injury on the body, except that she was dead and her body part cut off.
The corpse was laid in front of a shop and was covered with clothes.
A resident, Mr. Abayomi Odegbami, told our correspondent on Monday that the unidentified woman was a regular face in the community, and usually slept in one of the shops.
He added that she was last seen by residents on Saturday, adding that residents suspected that she
was killed in the evening.
He said,
“Nobody knows exactly what happened to her.“We just discovered that they strangled her and cut off her private parts. We suspect that what they were really interested in was her private parts.“This incident happened on Saturday and the corpse is already decomposing. We have been calling the emergency numbers for some time now, and they have not come around.“Our fear is that the corpse could burst and spread disease in the area.”
He added that such incidents had become a common sight in the area, adding that a similar one was recorded last year.
“I believe it has a ritual undertone and may not be unconnected with the coming elections because a similar thing happened last year and it was a man. A part of his body was also removed while his corpse was abandoned,” he said.
After the matter was reported to policemen at the Ketu division, our correspondent learnt that emergency officials later arrived around 4pm on Monday to pick up the corpse.
A source in the area said the officials insisted on collecting money before they could evacuate the corpse from the scene.
He said,
“They said they also heard about it on Saturday.“They said we should pay them before they remove the body. Where do we get the money from?”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said it was a case of sudden and unnatural death.
He added that the victim’s private parts were not cut off as speculated by residents of the area.
He said, “It’s a case of sudden and unnatural death. No part of her body was cut off.”
Buhari Gets Serious: I will ban importation of Rice, Tomato, etc
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammad Buhari, on Monday declared that if he is voted in as President on February 14, 2015, he would ban the importation of basic items like rice, tomato in order to enhance local production of the products for the good of Nigerians.
He also said his administration would focus on agriculture, mining, infrastructure and job provision at the top of its economic agenda.
Buhari gave a summary of how he would revive the economy in a meeting with Organised Private Sector in Lagos. He said his government would place emphasis on security, corruption, economy.
“How can Nigeria be importing virtually everything? How can we be importing even tomatoes? If I am elected, basic items like rice and tomatoes, which we have the capacity to produce, will be banned from being imported,” Buhari said.
The APC presidential candidate said his commitment to the Nigerian people would be governed by the highest consideration for how his policies would create jobs.
He also said he would focus on the provision of infrastructure such as power and roads.
Buhari, who said he agreed with the current administration on the privatisation of the power utilities, however, said there would be a need to also privatise the transmission segment.
According to him, the privatisation of the power sector has yet to achieve the desired result because after the handing over of the assets to private investors, the hard work to connect the various parts of the power chain, supply gas, install transformers and complete substations has not been done.
He added, “Our studies show that we will require no less than 200,000 trained personnel to support the initiative to provide power and light up Nigeria.
“Apart from the inherent direct employment that this will give, the reduction in the cost of production, the savings from self-generation by Nigerians, who currently spend a lot of their income on purchase of diesel and petrol to generate their own electricity, will reduce the burden on their disposable income.”
The meeting, which had key members of the APC in attendance, was hosted by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.
Finally, Nigerian Soldiers Storm The Deadly Sambisa Forest
As part of measures to contain and quell the Boko Haram insurgency ahead of the general elections, Nigerian military has stormed the insurgents their notorious hideout in Sambisa Forest, according to reports from the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
The director of defence information, Maj-Gen Chris Olukolade, told the agency that the military had been raiding the forest and other hideouts of the sect.
According to the agency, the army used it war drones to level some of the Boko Haram camps in the northeast but it was not clear about the casualties on both sides. The army said that they are still committed to securing the civilian population at whatever cost.
Olukolade said, “We are still committed in ensuring that we degrade their ability to continue their activities and eventually eliminate them.
“The mission is on. There are no allowing terrorists anywhere. As many times as they come, it will only give us the opportunity to decimate them.”
A soldier involved in the operation said Chadian forces were working under the African Union agreement to help Nigeria in its fight against Boko Haram.
Sources close to the area have confirmed that aerial bombardment had commenced.
A soldier serving with the 7 Division, Nigeria Army, Maiduguri confirmed this development to Leadership even as he begged not to be quoted in this report.
According to him, “special forces have been mobilised from different part of the country, especially the 81 battalion, to Yola over the weekend and the operation starts today (Monday).
“What people may have heard or seen today may not be unconnected with the operation. They have to do the bombardment of the forest starting from the fringes before the artillery troops would begin to advance. But be rest assured that before the end of this week the forest as well as many communities under the control of Boko Haram would be reclaimed”.
The soldier said himself and most of his colleagues were happy with the resolution of the United Nations for agreeing to constitute an international joint task force to deal with the Boko Haram.
Jonathan Afraid of Defeat: Secretly move for poll postponement
According to Sahara Reporters, in the face of dwindling prospects for his re-election bid, President Goodluck Jonathan has embarked on a renewed three-pronged approach to scuttle the presidential election billed for February 14, several sources within the Presidency have disclosed.
It had finally dawned on Jonathan that his hopes for winning re-election had dimmed significantly. Our sources said the president was deeply distressed to find out that several governors of the PDP had been working quietly with the leading opposition party, APC, to thwart his re-election.
“Apart from Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Mr. President is no longer sure that he can count on the support of any of our other governors,” an insider in the Presidency said.
In a startling disclosure, our sources said Jonathan is willing to entertain a military take-over.
In order to push that agenda, the Presidency has released more than N2 billion to Raymond Dokpesi, the owner of Africa Independent Television (AIT), to coordinate the campaign for postponement of the elections...
Another source said several PDP governors were aggrieved that Jonathan shortchanged or abandoned them during the party’s primaries. Several of them are reportedly paying the president back by standing aloof from his campaigns or actively mobilizing support for Muhammadu Buhari, the APC’s presidential candidate.
Our sources revealed that the president and hawks within his administration held a prolonged meeting yesterday and decided that the elections must be frustrated at all cost. Two of the sources said Jonathan intends to call a meeting of the Council of State for Thursday to persuade its members to back a proposal to postpone the polls. In place of an election, the president wants to set up “a government of national unity” to be headed by him for 18 months to two years.
It is unclear whether the council would endorse the plan to reschedule elections. The council’s membership includes past heads of state and presidents, and some of them have been openly critical of Mr. Jonathan’s record.
One source stated that, as part of the broad strategy to scuttle the elections, the Presidency would refuse to pay the balance of the contract for the printing of ballot papers. The contract was awarded when the Nigerian currency, the naira, officially exchanged for N165 to a dollar. The source said the contractor, who claimed to be sourcing his foreign currency from the black market, is now seeking an adjustment to his contract. “The contractor wants to be paid N210 to a dollar, but President Jonathan and his team have refused to help the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) source the balance,” our source revealed.
Instead, the president and his team have advised INEC to look for a local Nigerian printer to print the ballot papers. INEC chairman Attahiru Jega and some of his top aides have balked at the idea of using a local printer. They argue that such an arrangement would be a perfect recipe for chaos, allowing the Presidency to use its considerable slush funds to illegally print duplicate papers with which to rig the election, as happened in several states in 2011.
A source at INEC told Sahara Reporters that INEC chairman and some top officials suspect that the Jonathan administration was working seriously to undermine the commission’s credibility. “There is a lot of internal sabotage going on at INEC,” the source said.
He disclosed that some resident electoral commissions were giving contradictory statements and reports about the commission’s preparedness for the February elections, without clearing with the headquarters. “Can you imagine also that even non-essential materials are being stolen from INEC offices, all in an effort to undermine the effort to hold elections,” said the source.
The Presidency’s second option is the recruitment of some members of the defunct National Conference to press the case for postponing the elections until Nigerians discuss, adopt and implement the resolutions of the confab. Using AIT and other willing media, Mr. Dokpesi is expected to press the case for constituting an interim national government headed by Jonathan. Earlier today in Abuja, Mr. Dokpesi’s AIT aired a live discussion by members of a “post national conference consultative committee”, to begin framing the case for postponement.
The live program featured Bolaji Akinyemi, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Femi Okurounmu, who headed a nationwide consultation for the national conference, Maurice Iwu, a notorious former INEC chairman, Mike Ezekhome, a lawyer, G.G. Darah, a professor and close associate of jailed former Governor James Ibori of Delta State, and Balarabe Musa, a former governor of Kaduna State whose involvement is perhaps the only surprise.
Dokpesi’s group is expected to use its huge war chest to argue that elections are untenable because of INEC’s questionable preparedness as well as the tense security situation in Nigeria’s northeast.
The Presidency’s third option is the possible use of the Nigerian military to scuttle the election. Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, General Tobiah Minimah, is reportedly a key player in executing the military option. One source reported that General Minimah, who is from President Jonathan’s Niger Delta region, was initially reluctant, but eventually signed up for the scheme to use the military to intervene should the elections proceed and not go President Jonathan’s way.
Our sources said the president was irate that INEC chairman, Mr. Jega, had been avoiding meetings with him and his presidential aides. “Professor Jega has maintained that he wants to be seen to have conducted a free and transparent election, even if imperfect. He has therefore maintained that there is no point going to Aso Rock to hold meetings exclusively with Mr. President, who is a candidate, and the president’s team,” one source close to Mr. Jega said.
Our Presidency sources disclosed that Mr. Jonathan had started looking for ways to remove the INEC chairman from office. “If they succeed in postponing the elections, the president will either suspend Prof. Jega, the way he did to former Central Bank Governor [Sanusi Lamido Sanusi] or ask him to go on compulsory leave pending the end of his tenure.”
While Sahara Reporters was about to publish this report, several sources told our reporters that President Jonathan and his co-travelers have moved to the courts as a way of scuttling the elections, at least five court cases have been filed to either postpone the elections and disqualify the APC candidate , Muhammad Buhari.
A reliable source told our team of investigators that President Jonathan is shopping for a federal high court judge to scuttle the elections with a court order in the next few hours.

Six Killed, 12 Injured as Political Thugs Clash in Lagos
No fewer than six people were feared killed and 12 others injured on Monday as suspected party thugs clashed at the Amukoko area of Ajegunle, Lagos State.
According to eyewitnesses, the thugs were on a door-to-door campaign, reports Daily Post
One Raimi, who was shot in the eyes, died on the spot.
According to one of the eyewitnesses, supporters of the political party were on a campaign train, moving along Apasa Street when hell was let loose.
A resident said: “Some boys at Apasa Street opened fire on a man. The man’s name is Raimi.
“For reasons we couldn’t understand, the issue degenerated into a street war. It was a reprisal attack that led to the death of the five other men.
“Twelve people were badly injured. Raimi was shot in the eye. One of the men, who shot him, drew closer to his body, while he was lying on the ground, and pumped more bullets into his chest.
They apparently wanted to make sure he was dead. The streets turned red with blood.
“As the men opened fire on another, residents scampered in different directions”.
A woman was said to have been shot in the buttocks as she attempted to quickly lock her shop.
One Akeem said: “There is an ongoing feud between Campus Boys and Apasa youths.
“The Campus Boys always seem to be ready to fight at any time, just as their enemy, the Apasa youths”, he added.

Man cut off his penis after 3 women appeared in his dream
A 35-year-old male fashion designer, Wahab Sa’adu had cut off his joystick with a razor blade in a bush close to his house located at Alapa, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A source from the family who pleaded anonymity said the victim had rushed back to the house with his bleeding manhood on his hand on Monday, January 26, 2015.
“We were at home preparing for the day’s work when Sa’adu came in with part of his manhood in his hand with blood stain all over his trouser.“His (Wahab) loud cry drew the attention of people in the neighbourhood to our house and everyone was shocked to see what had happened, ”said the source.
His father who could not stand the sight of his son’s severed member passed out immediately.
According to the Trent,Sa’adu was immediately rushed to a private clinic in the area for quick first aid treatment before he was later transferred to another private hospital at Tanke, Ilorin, the state capital.
Speaking in excruciating pains from the hospital bed, the victim said his action was the “handiwork of witches”, who attacked and controlled him through the dream.
He said,
“Prior to the incident, I had a dream in which three unidentified women appeared to me and ordered that I drink battery acid, which I did the following morning without the knowledge of anyone.”“Three days after, I had another dream where the same women ordered me to wake up and cut off my joystick. It was after cutting it off that I regained consciousness. So I rushed home for immediate remedy.”
One of wives of the victim who craved anonymity said she had accepted her fate because their marriage had produced four issues including twins.

Bomb blast reported close to GEJ's campaign venue in Gombe
A bomb blast occurred this afternoon at Abubakar Habu Hashidu Road, about 200 meters from the Pantami stadium, venue of President Jonathan's campaign in Gombe state today.
According to reports, the bomb which was planted in a stationed tricycle, went off just minutes after president Jonathan and his team left the venue of the campaign. Five people have already been confirmed dead. More later. .(president Jonathan pictured above at the campaign rally today)
