Our Economy Is Ill And Is Rapidly Getting Worse- Etcetera

Is Nigeria getting worse? That is a very provocative question. I have found that most people that hate Nigeria are very eager to agree that Nigeria is getting worse, while a lot of those that love Nigeria are very hesitant to admit that Nigeria is in decline. Well, I am proud to be a Nigerian, but I cannot lie to myself or tell you that Nigeria is doing just fine. The evidence is undeniable. Our economy is ill and is rapidly getting worse. God handed us the resources to be one of the greatest economic machines in the world and we have wrecked it. But until we are willing to look in the mirror and admit how bad things have got, we won’t be ready for the solutions that are necessary. The truth is that there are things that we can do to reverse the decline. It does not have to be permanent. We have got away from the things that made Nigeria great, and we need to admit that we are on the wrong path and start fixing this country.

But if we choose to continue down the road that we are currently on, it will lead us into the darkest chapters in Nigerian history.

If someone had written a story about what is happening now in Nigeria 20 years ago, people would have laughed and said “Wow that is a good story, but it would never happen here, not in our Nigeria.” But now, the joke is on all of us. Nigeria has turned into one big comedy club where the audience is wearing a frown as they listen to the president cracking his “Change” joke. The president speaks of change from the same mouth that he nominates those purported to be ministerial nominees. He should tell us what change he expects from the list. How do you achieve this change doing the same old things with the same old people? Some governors on the list are still entangled in corruption allegations levelled against them by their successors. What happened to your zero tolerance to corruption mantra? This whole change thing is becoming a gargantuan joke that is not funny at all.

A devastating economic collapse has left the country in a stagnant decline, where Nigerians are still sleeping under bridges, ghettos like Ajegunle are overfilled, while almost all houses in Victoria Island and ikoyi lie vacant with ‘for sale’ banners hanging on almost every gate, the kleptocratic politicians openly steal billions of dollars, and remain free, while people charged with petty thefts go to jail and have no bonds, protests break out and are quickly stifled by an authoritarian police force, media houses are getting shut down and becoming government controlled and relay repeating news stories that have little to do with real events, and are more focused on propaganda and nonsense, a politician takes several multimillion dollar vacations at taxpayer expense, while ordinary Nigerian families cannot afford the skyrocketing food costs, the senate is hopelessly unable to pass any kind of legislation that can benefit average Nigerians, but easily pass legislation benefitting themselves and usurping the constitution, prisons are built and manned waiting for those who dare to speak the truth against to power, the roads in estates built by politicians and their rich cronies are tarred over and over while the areas occupied by the poor masses are left in ruins, terrorists are granted amnesty and pacified with fat monthly allowances while law abiding citizens are gnashing their teeth. Whew! Did I miss anything? What about a hero? Maybe a small glimmer of hope. Maybe Buhari? hopefully. I would like the next paragraph of this article to read, “At Nigeria’s darkest hour, the people defied the odds, and ignored the experts and elected a man of character and convictions to the office of the Presidency, and the said man restored the constitution, defeated boko haram, brought back the missing Chibok girls, brought justice to the people by arresting the evil men and women responsible for years of death and debt upon this nation.” Now I like that ending. Will it happen? I hope to God it can be so. If I told a story 30 years ago that Nigeria will be worse off at 55, would you have believed me?

IK Osakioduwa & Wife Celebrate 7th Wedding Anniversary

OAP and host of Big Brother Africa, IK Osakioduwa and his wife, are celebrating 7 years of beautiful togetherness today. IK took to his IG page to pen down a love note to his wife and wrote;

‘Happy anniversary to us Babe. The last 7years have been quite an adventure. You've been the perfect 'Ride or die' chic: Lovely, loving, dependable, reliable, secure & sexy. I'll love you forever. #BestFriends #PerfectEntertainersWife #LookAtUs #MarryYourFriend’ …encouraging everyone to marry their friends.

My Lover is Refusing to Leave His Wife & 2 Kids to Marry Me

My problem with some of these babes is that they sleep with other women's husbands but when they end up getting married, they will say their husband must not have any girl outside. Yinmu! Her story:
I started an affair with a married man who used to be my next-door neighbour. He moved away shortly after he got married, so I don’t really know his wife.
We meet up about twice a week and the s*x is mind-blowing.
I'm completely in love with him but he tells me he’ll never leave his wife and their two young children. The thing is, he’s always happy to see me whenever we meet and buys me lovely presents.

The looks he gives tell me he has feelings for me. Do you think he loves me without realizing it yet?

- A Lagos big girl sent this to Aunty Bunmi. Below is her reply:
I’m sure you know in your heart of hearts that you’re kidding yourself believing this married man could be in love with you for real.
He has been completely up-front with you from the start. He’s told you he won’t leave his wife, but because you’ve fallen for him, you’re hoping that he’s fallen for you.
Unfortunately, he hasn’t. Maybe like you, he also likes the s*x you have together, but the look is in anticipation of the no-strings attached s*x he craves from you.
If you want something more than he’s offering you at the moment, leave another woman's husband and make yourself available to a single man and build a decent life.

The True Story Behind Adekunle Gold's 'Orente' Revealed

Here's  The Story Behind Adekunle Gold's 'Orente'
It was my first night sleeping at Bae's and I was totally uncomfortable but I couldn't complain.
I figured that it was only natural that people didn't sleep well outside their homes.
So I thought it would get better.
Bae's crib wasn't awesome. He didn't have a flat screen, no air conditioning, no space…
His one room apartment could not take much, but I was his Orente, so I looked beyond 'material' things.
It was 2:18 am and I couldn't sleep.
I had swollen bite marks all over my body. I think I counted over 50 out of frustration.
I sat up positioned to 'clap dead' the invisible mosquitoes that were trying to kill me in my sleep, but they were too clever for me.
I couldn't fathom sleeping back so I stayed up till dawn.
By the fifth day at Bae's, I was at wit's end..
I had began sleeping at work.
It was obvious that I was uncoordinated because I dragged around doing my corporate duties.
I stayed past closing hours, wishing there was a bed somewhere at work, but of course, there wasn't so I had to go back to Bae's.
I had agreed to stay a week at Bae's, after a lot of pleading.
I wasn't the kinda girl that fell back on her word, so I was going to keep my end of the bargain… although the mosquitoes were not included in our deal.
On the night before I was meant to go home, I was up positioned for the mosquitoes as usual when I noticed a crawling insect perched on my thigh.
I had never seen it before. I immediately killed it and woke Bae up to ask what it was.
Bae said it was a bedbug.
You should have seen my face when he said "bedbug".
"Are you joking?"
He laughed, "it's nothing Honey. People have it around here."
That threw me off balance.
I'd never seen a bedbug in my life but I had heard stories about it.
I was once told that bedbugs were a sign of abject poverty and here was this man telling me that it was nothing.
I picked up my phone and googled 'bedbug'.
I learnt about its rotten 'strawberrie' smell, life cycle and all of that Wikipedia mumbojumbo.
I was totally disgusted.
I got up and began dusting all of my clothes, carefully packing them in my little box as soon as I was sure they were bedbug free.
I didn't wait for breakfast or wait to shower.
I patiently waited till it was 7:30 am that Saturday morning before I took a cab home.
This Orente life was not for me

Saraki Runs to VP Osinbajo in Aso Rock, Begs for Forgiveness

After several weeks of trying to meet with the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, over his political troubles, the embattled Senate President Bukola Saraki finally had a private meeting with him which lasted for about two hours inside the Aso Rock presidential villa.

Aides of both the Senate President and the Vice President were not allowed to be part of the meeting.
Saraki cried out to the Vice President about his travails since emerging Senate President and asked him to help get forgiveness from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Presidency.

President Muhammadu Buhari and APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, have ignored Saraki since then.

Already, Saraki is being prosecuted for false declaration of his assets by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, a trial, he and his supporters claim is a witch-hunt but have failed to defend the charges.

A presidency source who divulged the meeting to LEADERSHIP Weekend stated that the he was sure that the Senate President’s visit had the trappings of a private meeting, seeking soft landing.

“I think the Senate President came to complain to the vice president of the unfairness in his trial since he was not getting the ears of President Buhari, more so that vice president Osinbajo was the lead counsel when former Lagos governor and APC’s national leader, Bola Tinubu was being prosecuted on the same offence of alleged false assets declaration,” the source said.

A source told Isaiahakomor.blogspot.com that VP Osinbajo told Saraki to watch his mouth and respect his leaders, but was said to have added that the Presidency cannot stop his trial, he must defend himself.

Secrets Revealed: The Cases Against Madam Diezani

Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has stayed away from Nigeria since President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn-in. She was first appointed into the federal cabinet in 2007. A former director at Shell in Nigeria, she was appointed Minister of Transport by late President Umaru Yar’adua. In December 2008, she was redeployed to the Mines and Steel Development ministry.

After former Vice President Goodluck Jonathan became acting president, Alison-Madueke was appointed Nigeria’s first female petroleum minister in February 2010, a position she held till May 29, 2015 when Mr. Jonathan left office.

Her tenure as petroleum minister became one of the most controversial, amid secrets of corruption...

According to Vanguard, under her watch, dubious oil marketers stole trillions of oil subsidy money. She retained her position after the House of Representatives investigated the scandal and indicted the minister. Probes by independent audit firms, including the KPMG and Pricewaterahousecoopers, confirmed billions of dollars of oil money were missing, the most notable being $20 billion in 2014.

Other corruption allegations
Long before her stint in the oil and gas sector, Alison-Madueke was investigated by the Nigerian Senate on allegation she paid N30.9 billion to contractors while she held office as transport minister. In 2009, the Senate also indicted Mrs. Alison-Madueke and recommended her for prosecution for allegedly transferring N1.2 billion into a private account of a toll company without due process. The former minister consistently denied any wrongdoing.

In June, after leaving office, she rejected all allegations of embezzlement, saying she never stole from Nigeria. In March 2014, the House of Representatives mandated its Committee on Public Accounts to investigate the alleged squandering of N10 billion over a two-year period on the arbitrary charter and maintenance of a Challenger 850 aircraft for unofficial use by Alison-Madueke.

Such act was said to contravene the “Fiscal Responsibility Act and all other laws on fiscal discipline” Acting on what it termed reliable evidence, the House said it learnt that Alison-Madueke had allegedly sunk at least N3.120 billion into the maintenance of a private jet dedicated to the service of herself and her family.

A breakdown of the money, showed that the sum of 500,000 Euros (N130 million) was spent every month on the maintenance of the airplane, which amounted to N3.120 billion for the two years in question.

There are still several billion dollars missing that we don't even know of but will be exposed in London.

“A Nigerian living in South Africa by name Ayoola Ayodeji Adebayo was found in possession of 3.920kg of methamphetamine on his way to South Africa. The drug was found in a false bottom of his luggage while he was trying to check-in the luggage. The case is being investigated.

He bought my return ticket and gave me N150,000.
“I thought the drug would not be detected because it was neatly concealed. This is a big mistake on my part because I have sustained my family with the grocery business. It will not happen again if I can get out of this problem.”

I’m sad I don’t have a Ph.D –Aki

Despite Chinedu Ikedieze's success, the actor popularly known as Aki, is still not fulfilled because he believes that by this time in his life, he should have bagged a Ph.D degree. He tells Punch
Aside obtaining my first degree in mass communication at The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, I had the opportunity to go to New York Film Academy in 2004. I did film acting, it is like a certificate programme and I have learnt over the years on the job too. By now, the way I had it in mind when I finished school, I should have had my second Master’s degree if not Ph.D. Each time I think along that line, other things come to mind and I am not happy about that. When you see me again, I might just be finishing a particular course.”

Photos: 4 year old becomes dumb after repeated rape by her own father

Four-year-old Rebecca (not real name) has lost her voice following several sexual assaults on her by her 37-year-old father, identified as Ademola,  She has not been able to talk for the past few weeks.

Her mother explained to Saturday PUNCH how her husband of 14 years had been molesting their daughter.

Blessed with four children; three girls, including a set of twins, and a boy, she reminisced about how they used to live as one (happy) family in the Igando area of Lagos before things took a grim turn and she caught her husband committing one of the most gruesome crimes against their second daughter – sexual assault.

She noted that apart from having sexual intercourse with the little girl on several occasions, she had caught her husband inserting his finger into her private part more than once, all of which had traumatised Rebecca and made her a shadow of her real self.

The unfortunate incident seems to be tearing the family further apart as she has not only moved out of the house; she has vowed never to return, whilst accusing her husband of being diabolical.
She began, “It started in 2013 when I suddenly woke up one night and saw my husband removing the panties of my daughter. It was in the midnight. I wanted to shout but I wanted to see what he was up to. So, I pretended as if I didn’t see him because the room was relatively dark.

“When he pulled down her pant, he looked around and when he felt convinced that everyone was deep asleep, he stood up and moved to where the girl was and dipped his hand in her private part. I screamed.

“To say I was shocked was to say the least. He was shocked too because he didn’t know anyone was watching, so he quickly stood up, pulled up his trousers and started beating me.”
According to Folake, the experience she had that night was enough for her to leave his house, but she said she had to stay because she was already pregnant for him at the time.
She continued, “He beat me that night such that blood came out of my body. I didn’t even know I was pregnant until that night and the pregnancy was about two months old. I ran away from him for some time and I told my relatives. But I had to go back because of the pregnancy and that was when I had a set of twins for him.”
To Folake, her husband had turned a new leaf and would never do such a despicable act again, but unknown to her, other things had been going on without her knowledge. She said the straw that broke the camel’s back happened on July 17, 2015 when she caught him molesting her daughter again the same way he did before.
With her eyes soaked in tears, she said, “I thought he had stopped until the night of July 17, 2015 around 1am. It was a Friday. Rebecca was sleeping beside me but I saw him stand up, he carried the girl to the other side of the bed. He didn’t know I was awake. I had wanted to shout but I wanted to know what he was up to again. So, he removed his trousers, turned his back at me and crawled to where Rebecca was lying.
“He didn’t know I was looking at him. He pulled down her panties and started inserting his finger in her private part again. I thought I was dreaming. I screamed and continued shouting. He was shocked and couldn’t talk. He was just looking. Then, he went back to sleep.
“The following morning, I challenged him why he was doing that to his own child. I know he is diabolical, so I told him if his plan was to use my daughter for anything evil, he would not prosper. That was what got him angry and he started beating me. He said he would kill me. Then, my other children started crying and shouting, and he didn’t stop until one of our neighbours intervened.
“The following day, I went to the church to report to the shepherd of the church he was attending, Celestial Church of Christ, somewhere around Ikotun in Alimosho Local Government. The shepherd was shocked too but he pleaded with me to exercise patience. Because of the fear of what he could do to us, we left the house and moved to the church and we kept sleeping there.”
Folake explained that her estranged husband, who is a motor mechanic in Ikotun area, came to the church, beat her and forcefully took away their 17-month-old twins, whom she was still breastfeeding, noting that the two girls had been in his custody since then.

Her seven-year-old boy, identified simply as Seun, who appeared sharp-minded, told our correspondent that he used to see his father on top of his sister, maintaining that he had caught him twice in the act of putting his hand “under” his sister. He explained that his father used to rub his hands all over Rebecca’s body but he barely knew what he was up to.

Disturbed by the incident, Folake said she reported the assault at the Igando Police Station and to the Executive Director, Esther Child Rights Foundation, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, who had helped to monitor the case with the police. Folake added that some of the policemen in the station even laughed at her when they heard about the case.

Ogwu told Saturday PUNCH that it would be in the interest of all if justice was done on the matter, saying she would follow the matter to its conclusion.
She added, “We have involved the National Human Rights Commission, Office of the Public Defender and the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in the case so as to ensure justice. It is increasingly becoming important for parents to pay due attention to their children to guard them against assault.”

Even though a test conducted on the girl at the Mirabel Sexual Assault Referral Centre at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, confirmed that the girl had been assaulted and her hymen broken, Folake noted that to her dismay, Ademola had been released on bail by the police, and that the police in Igando had been foot-dragging in taking the case to court.

Recounting how bad she had been battered and assaulted by the husband, Folake noted that her worry was that the man who had done both spiritual and psychological damage to her little daughter should was about to go scot free.

“This girl’s private part has almost become rotten and as young as she is, her breast is already coming out, and she limps occasionally. I can never entrust my children into his hands and that is why I’m worried about the twins that are with him. They are also girls. I don’t want him to molest them too.“He had afflicted us with charm but we have been set free. The two children in school have been very retarded, coupled with the fact that Rebecca has not been talking until she did twice just two months ago. And since then, she has stopped again. She just doesn’t talk and she urinates frequently. She should be in Nursery One now but she seems not to be coping. Even her teachers are complaining she had become a recluse and she keeps urinating all the time.”
Meanwhile, when Saturday PUNCH contacted Ademola over the allegations levelled against him by his wife and son, he denied, saying, his wife was looking for ways to move out of his house, thus, she had to “cook up lies against him.”

He added, “She is lying against me. I didn’t do any of those things they were saying. She has seen someone else she wants to marry and that was why she left the house.”

The Divisional Police Officer, Igando Police Station, Mr. Segun Fagbohun, told Saturday PUNCH that he had transferred Ademola and the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Yaba for further investigation.

Angry customer calls police to complain prostitute gave him 10 minutes instead of 30

An angry customer was so infuriated by poor service he got the police involved to complain that a prostitute had not given him enough time.
The angry man called officers to say he had paid for 30 minutes with the sex worker, but she had only provided 10 minutes.
The unusual objection was made to police in north Manchester on Thursday, October 2, reports the MEN.
GMP Newton Heath tweeted the following morning:

“Call received yesterday ‘I paid for 30 mins with a prostitute but she only provided 10 mins."I want to complain’#dontwasteourtime #serious?”
It was the latest in a series of bizarre complaints to police across Greater Manchester.
In July, a woman rang 999 when staff at a city centre hotel’s gym wouldn’t let her in – despite the fact she didn’t have a valid pass.
And in June, a Salford pensioner alerted officers that his wife was ‘driving him round the bend’.
