Oscar Pistorious Movie leaves Reeva Steenkamp's family enraged

The family of murdered Reeva Steenkamp have been left outraged after a controversial movie about her murder aired in the US.

The Lifetime movie, titled Oscar Pistorius - The Blade Runner Killer, focuses on the trial of the disgraced Paralympian who is currently serving a six-year sentence for shooting the model on Valentine's Day 2013, claiming he mistook her for an intruder.

A  statement from the family read.

“They are horrified and upset to read a report that ‘the movie is told from Steenkamp and her mother’s perspective’,"
“Any impression that the movie is endorsed by the Steenkamp family is untrue and incorrect.”

The film stars Andreas Damm as Pistorius and Toni Garrn as Steenkamp.It comes after the family of Pistorius said they will be taking legal action against makers of a the movie.

His brother Carl said the film is a “gross distortion” of what really happened.

“The ‘film’ was made with blatant disregard of both the Steenkamp and Pistorius families, as well as complete disregard for Reeva and Oscar,”

For Money Rituals: 2 Men Behead 17-Year-Old Girl Hawking Puff-Puff

Two suspected ritualists have been arrested by men of Ogun State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl, Taye Gusau, in Idosemo, Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.

After killing her, they decapitated the body, cut off the hands and intestines. It was gathered that the suspects, Yewanu Tailoju and Asamo Soji, lured the girl, who was hawking puff-puff (doughnut) after school, into the bush and murdered her.

 The state Public Relations Officer of VGN, Adebodun Omotolani, who disclosed this, said that the suspected criminals reportedly dumped the body in a well at an abandoned plot of land at Igude, after decapitating it.


Adebodun Omotolani explained that “four days ago, the parents of the girl, when they did not see their child, reported to the VGN, who swung into action, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old, Yewenu Tailoju.

 “It was Tailoju that named his partner, Asamo Soji, who is now in Police net and confessed to killing the young girl for money rituals.

“He later took officers of the VGN to where her corpse was dumped after severing her head and hands, while her intestines were also removed.”

 The Commandant of the VGN, Olanrewaju Adedoyin, who advised members of the public to always avail the group with information, said VGN was poised to taking community policing to a level that will reduce crime in the society.

 He said the case will be properly handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigations and prosecution.

At Least 200 Killed, Over 1700 Injured As Strong Quake Rocks Iran-Iraq Border

At least 200 people were killed and more than 1,700 injured when a 7.3-magnitude earthquake shook the mountainous Iran-Iraq border triggering landslides that hindered rescue efforts, officials said on Monday.

Iran's emergency services chief Pir Hossein Koolivand said it was "difficult to send rescue teams to the villages because the roads have been cut off... there have been landslides".

Revealed-Why YABATECH graduate committed suicide

Barely two weeks to the commencement of his one year National Youth Service Scheme, a graduate of the Yaba College of Technology, Oluwamuyiwa Oluwagbemileke, aka Spartacus, has ended his life.

The 27-year-old graduate of electrical engineering reportedly took a poison on Wednesday after he was blamed for damaging a car in a sachet water factory in Ojodu Berger, Lagos, where he worked.



PUNCH Metro learnt that he had hit the vehicle on another one on the factory premises while trying to help the owner re-park it.

The Osogbo, Osun State indigene, was said to have become desperate to raise N50,000 to repair the damaged car.

In a suicide note he posted on Facebook, a few hours before the incident, he hinted that he was depressed.

He wrote,

“When a man’s life is unstable, worried, downcast and destabilised, things he does right before will become wrong no matter the best he puts in. He loses focus and strength; he becomes unhappy and angry at everything even if he tries to wear a smiling face.
“Thoughts of death will come in the scene. He keeps asking the question, ‘why me?’ He becomes helpless and even if he’s among people, he still feels lonely. Life can be truly unfair.
“Advice: Never let your ugly situations weigh you down. When you notice things are not going well, check yourself before it makes you feel worried.”

About an hour before he took the poison, he wrote another note on his Facebook wall at 10.16pm, asking his family to look after his mother.

“Please, help me stand by my mother. She’s the reason why I have lived this far. Thank you. To my loved ones,” it read.

He was buried on Saturday at the Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos.

His nickname, it was learnt, evolved from his determination to become a graduate, which made him to engage in one menial job or another to sponsor himself.

His elder sister, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Sunday, confirmed that he was reserved.

The woman, who did not want her name in print, said Oluwagbemileke had called her on the telephone on that day around 11am, saying he was in Osogbo and wanted to discuss an issue with her.

She said, “I was monitoring him on the telephone and asking when he would come.

“I was surprised when he told me that he was on his way back to Lagos. I asked him what he came to do in Osogbo and he said I should not worry. He promised to call me back when he got to Ibadan, Oyo State. When I didn’t see his call, I called him and he said he had boarded a bus en route to Lagos. I asked him what happened. He said he would call me when he got home. I called him several times, but he said he was not at home, not knowing that he was lying. After he didn’t pick my calls again, I went to bed.”

The sister said she called him about 15 times the following day, but he did not pick his calls.

She said she later learnt that he had visited Osogbo to tell their mother about the damaged car, adding that the mother promised to follow him to the factory on Thursday.

She explained that their mother was preparing food for him when he left home, noting that the hard copy of the suicide note was found in his apartment at the factory in Lagos.

The sister said,

 “I passed out when I was told he poisoned himself. His neighbours said they received a message from him, saying he wanted to poison himself, but they did not take him seriously. His girlfriend said he was gasping when she called him around 11pm. Our mother said he typed the suicide note on his phone in her presence but she did not know the content because she has no formal education.

“I was surprised Muyiwa (Oluwagbemileke) could not wait to be celebrated. He struggled all through, but he never waited to reap the fruits of his labour. He worked as a carrier to survive. Our father died a long time ago. He was going for NYSC on November 21. He was the only graduate in our family.
“When I went to the factory, I was told that a laptop had fallen from his hands and damaged three days before he damaged the car. They must have chided him, which is normal, although his boss denied it. He was collecting over N50,000 monthly at the factory and a gym there.
“While he was living with me, if he spoilt something and I scolded him, he would abscond from home for three days and sleep in schools. At times, I would know he was the one who damaged an item, but I would still ask him. Instead of him to talk, he would just walk away from home. I would beg people to talk to him before he would return home.”

Elton John Calls Crew Members A$$HOLES, Uses The F Word On Them During Concert

Elton John's piano was off-key during a concert on Saturday night. And  the 70-year-old musical legend appeared to get flustered at the malfunction at his concert in Evansville, Indiana's Ford Center.

Elton was plodding through a rendition of his 1975 hit Philadelphia Freedom when he noticed something was askew, alerting his sound engineers to the issue, in a clip posted Sunday by TMZ.

'Hang on, hang on - something's gone wrong here,' the English rock icon said, growing impatient as the problems weren't remedied fast enough for his liking.

He barked at his crew, 'Come on you a******s! That's no good,' before explaining to the crowd that his restlessness was for their benefit.

Whistleblower Will Be Paid This Month - Adeosun

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has cleared the air on the controversy surrounding the compensation to the whistleblower who blew the lid leading to the eventual recovery of $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23,218,000 from an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, last April.

Adeosun, in a statement Sunday, said from available records, the payment due on the Ikoyi recovery was among those being processed in the November batch, which will be released within the current month.

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, last Thursday in Vienna, Austria, had remarked that the “young man who blew the whistle is now a millionaire”.



However, a day later, a lawyer who said he was representing the three friends who blew the whistle on the recovery from the Ikoyi apartment, wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari demanding that the EFCC should immediately pay the commission due to the whistleblowers.

On the same day, the EFCC clarified that it never said that the whistle blowers had been paid as reported in the media.

The lawyer, Yakubu Galadima, also alleged that those who facilitated the recovery of the monies were three and not one as claimed by the EFCC.

Responding to the controversy via a statement issued Sunday night by her spokesman, Mr. Oluyinka Akintunde, the finance minister said her attention had been drawn “to media reports surrounding the payment to a whistleblower, who provided the tips that led to the recovery of funds stashed away in a property in Ikoyi, Lagos State”.

She stated unequivocally that the federal government has not withheld any funds due to any whistleblower.

According to her, the ministry has in place detailed procedures for processing payments due under the Whistleblower Policy.

We Are Boycotting, Not Disrupting Anambra Poll, IPOB Insists In New Statement

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has described as wild allegation the claims that it intends to disrupt the Anambra governorship election on Saturday.

The group said it is not true that it plans to disrupt the election, saying that its only plan is to boycott the election because it will not be anything different from others that have been conducted in Nigeria.

However, as the confusion over whether IPOB is boycotting or disrupting the upcoming election continues, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has implored electorates in Anambra State not to give in to the antics of the anti-democratic agents and reactionary forces seeking to undermine Saturday’s governorship election but to make sure that every vote counts.


IPOB said, “Wild, unfounded and foolish accusations about IPOB intending to disrupt the polls on Saturday as peddled by politicians, is not only baseless but completely unfounded.”

The group said instead of watching out for disturbances from IPOB, Anambra people should better be careful of security agents who have been dispatched to the state to kill and maim its citizens.

“What the good people of Anambra State should watch out for is the well-known rigging antics of INEC. We insist on a total boycott of all elections because voting in Anambra or any other elections in Nigeria is an exercise in futility because Aso Rock has already decided who they want to be sworn in as Anambra governor despite the warm words of free and fair elections emanating from APC praise singers in the South-east.

“A country like Nigeria riddled with institutionalised injustice cannot conduct a free and fair election. No free and fair elections have ever been conducted in Nigeria’s history, so Anambra State cannot be an exception. Risking one’s life to go and vote on Saturday, with trigger-happy Hausa Fulani soldiers looking for Biafrans to kill, is a risky adventure not worth undertaking by any sane person.

“That they have perfected plans to rig the upcoming Anambra State Governorship election in favour of the most loyal Hausa Fulani slave among the contenders is not a secret.

“IPOB Intelligence Unit has uncovered plans by APC to import voters from Imo State with the help of Rochas Okorocha. Willie Obiano, on the other hand, is working hand in hand with Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to bring in Northern youths resident in the state into Anambra to vote for Willie Obiano as a reward for signing up to the war against IPOB.

“At this moment, they have concluded plans to declare the APC candidate winner, whether people vote or not. What this means is that our vote doesn’t count. Voting is tantamount to legitimising illegitimacy,” IPOB said.

The group warned Anambra people that the same politicians who were urging them to go ahead and cast their votes were the same people that conspired with Aso Rock cabal to bring death to the southeast through Operation Python Dance II.

Why I Married Late At 41- Saka

Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly called Saka in this interview with Toluwani Eniola  shares his fatherhood experience and when he married late at almost 41.

What does fatherhood mean to you?

Fatherhood means the ability to perform all responsibilities of taking care of one’s family and being able to meet the needs of the family. It also entails the ability to be emotionally stable and intelligent enough to accommodate physical, psychological and spiritual needs of the individuals who constitute the family. It is also the ability to acquire what it takes to be a father. It goes beyond giving a woman ‘belle.’


What age did you become a father and how did you feel holding your first child?

I became a father when I was close to 41 (laughs). It was not too late. But it was late. However, I felt so fulfilled. I am also grateful to God that I was able to join the league of fathers. In the same week that my child was born, a friend of mine was giving away her daughter in marriage. You can imagine the gap.

Where were you when your wife gave birth?

When I heard the news that my wife had been delivered of a baby boy, I was elated. I was not around when my wife gave birth. I was on a movie location. I saw my first child the third day he was born. I called my mother-in-law to visit my wife at the hospital.

What did you do when you heard the news?

I called my wife to congratulate her. I told her to place the phone by the ear of the baby. Whether he could hear me or not, I insisted I wanted to talk to him. I said to my child on the phone, “Hello my son, welcome to Nigeria. I am your father. I am not around now but as soon as I come back, I am going to see you. You are welcome to my family.”

I think he heard me well because when I got home, he didn’t cry. He smiled when he saw me. God made everything easy for us. All our three children were born without complications. Within five minutes in the labour room, my wife gave birth. My wife didn’t go through much labour pains. In fact, my last child was born at the reception of the hospital. I thank God for His mercies. I have two boys and a girl.

What accounted for your lateness in being a father?

I can’t specifically say why. For a very long time, I was more committed to my career. I was carried away by the demands of my profession. Another factor that could have led to that was poverty. I never wanted to rely on people to take care of my children. I decided to get married at a point that I was able to take care of myself and my family.

But many people assumed that you are a rich man.

You don’t just grow up one day; it is a process. I am not a millionaire, so to say. But I am very grateful to God that I can afford bread and butter on my table. When I said poverty delayed me, I meant that I hustled for a long time. A few years back, the entertainment industry was not recognised. It was our passion that kept us going. It was about five or 10 years back that entertainment started getting lucrative. I was only popular back then but poor. The idea of self-dignity, not wanting to rely on people for support, accounted for my delay.

Herdsman Commits Suicide Over Death Of 200 Cows

A 56-year-Fulani herdsman, Mohammed Abdulkadire, jumped into River Benue in the Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Sunday Punch has learnt.

The National Coordinator of Miyietti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Benue State chapter, Garus Gololo, who spoke to our correspondent on Saturday, said the deceased committed suicide after he lost 200 of his cows to hunger and lack of water.

The Benue State Government had, on November 1, commenced the implementation of its anti-open grazing law, leading to some herdsmen relocating to other states.


Gololo said since the commencement of the Benue anti-open grazing law, Fulani herdsmen had lost about 600 cows due to poor feeding and inaccessibility to water.

He lamented that Abdulkadire, who had 22 children, cried and jumped into the river out of frustration when he discovered that 200 out of his 500 cows had died where they were camped, looking for a means to relocate from Benue State.

The herdsmen’s leader said, “The man killed himself simply because there is no place for his cows to graze. He was to relocate to the Awe LGA of Nasarawa State but information got to us that the area was occupied and no herdsman or herdsmen should cross over to the area again.

“We are calling on the Federal Government to intervene to quickly make provision for herdsmen in Benue State before they lose everything they have.”

Distance is not an issue in my marriage - OC Ukeje

Amstel Malta box office winner O.C Ukweje, has made it known his marriage is intact as distance is no issue for him and his wife.

Speaking with Sunday Scoop he said;

“Before we got married, we had the conversations about distance. We keep in touch so that we know what we are both up to. Communication is vital in every relationship. We have a good one and that is what really matters. For us, distance is not an issue and it has many other elements other than my job.

“Marriage has been interesting. We have been able to make the long distance work. I have also learnt a lot in the process and this has made me a happy man and I intend for it to stay that way. “As an adult, you make choices and you must have thought about them, especially something like marriage. So, I don’t think I made a wrong choice on any front. Marriage has more to do with the individual. Marriage is about understanding, making compromises and companionship. And I don’t think that I have ever mentioned that my wife doesn’t understand my job.”

On watching a romantic scene with his wife ;

“There’s definitely a degree of comfort, but there’s also the human side of you that hopes the scene doesn’t come off as offensive.”

I am not ready to show my birth certificate - Falz

Following the release of Falz's '27' album in celebration of his 27th birthday, there has been several debate as to if truly he is 27.

Many believe the 'Something Small' crooner ‘faked’ his age, a debate which caused Falz to say he would show his birth certificate to prove he did not lie.
Speaking with Sunday Scoop about the declaration Falz said;

“I just said it as a joke. I have not taken my birth certificate anywhere or shown anybody. I don’t know why people think I’m lying about my age. All I know is that I’m doing well and I’m happy with my life.”

 “I worked on the album for about a year, and when the time was right, I released it. The response has been very good. People love it and I’m very excited about that.”
