Court jails graduate for manufacturing fake drugs

A Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, has sentenced a 35-year-old Economics graduate, Osita Ely, to five years imprisonment without an option of fine for manufacturing fake drugs.

Eli had been standing trial since October 2015 after he was arrested by operatives of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control for the manufacturing, sale and distribution of fake drugs.

The arrest was made at his residence in the Bonsacc area of Asaba after a tip-off, according to a statement by NAFDAC.

The agency said several cartons of fake drugs and production machines were recovered from his residence before he was handed over to the police for prosecution.

During his arraignment in October, Ely initially pleaded not guilty to a seven-count charge preferred against him, but later admitted guilt during court proceedings that he indulged in the drug manufacturing business for the sole purpose of making money.

He had also pleaded for leniency through his counsel, Mr. Emeka Orji.

But the presiding judge, Justice Anthony Faji, found the accused guilty in all the counts, adding that in view of the evidence, circumstances and the admission of guilt to the charges,
“it was clear that rather than helping to grow the economy of the country as a graduate of Economics, he decided to increase the population of the people in the hospital and the dead at the mortuary.”
Justice Faji, therefore, sentenced Ely to five years imprisonment without options of fine.

The lead prosecution counsel, Umar Shamaki, applauded the judgement, adding that the right message had been sent to other fake drug manufacturers that there was no safe haven for them to carry out their nefarious activities.

Aftermath of Tiwa Savage's explosive revelation: Nigerians pounce on Edible Catering for cheating with TBillz

You recall Tiwa had said in her tell-all interview that revealed how her marriage crumbled  that:

‘While we were sleeping, his (Teebillz) phone was going off and it was middle of the night and I kept on seeing the name calling him ‘Edible Catering’ and It didn’t make
sense because why would a catering company be calling my husband at that time of the night and Yes as a woman, I picked up his phone and I went through his phone got into his Whatsapp and there’s this long conversation with this same edible number.’

And I’m seeing stuffs like ‘Can we meet at the hotel tonight’, ‘Do you live alone’, ‘And is it ok if I come by’. The last message I saw was, ‘I had to leave at 7am today because you were still sleeping’. Then he responded saying, ‘Yea because you knocked me out last night, It was a great night.’

Well, Nigerians on Twitter are saying all sorts about Edible Catering...it is presently the number one topic trending on twitter!

Herdsmen’s mayhem in Enugu: The untold story

Herdsmen mathem
The attack on Nimbo community in Uzouwani LGA, Enugu State by Fulani herdsmen may have come and gone, the damages will surely remain for ages. Families, friends and sympathisers have been mourning their deceased ones and the community has been deserted following the incidence of the early hours of Monday, 25th April, 2016.

Saturday Sun paid a visit to some families that lost their beloved ones in the attack and more facts emerged. Mr. Dennis Eze, a brother to late Mr. Maxwell Eze who died in the attack has this to say. “We are still in shock. We never knew this attack would happen because there was information prior to the attack and the security agencies were alerted one week before the attack yet they couldn’t do anything to stop it”, Mr. Dennis said.

Explaining how the attack happened, he said: “We had a meeting on Sunday evening where we discussed how to protect our community from the attack if it took place. It was around 3am on Monday that a warning bell was rung and woke everybody up, but we never knew it was the Fulani herdsmen that rang the bell so that we could come out. Behold, there were armed men in their large numbers and they started shooting at us. What saved some of us was that we have dispersed settlements in our community. Before some of us could come out, we heard gunshots and we ran for our lives instead of going to the village square. Only those who live close to the village square were killed. My own house is far from my brother’s own. Some also managed to escape.”

Another eyewitness who identified himself as Ifeanyi Onyeabor said that the herdsmen came to the community through Ameke village around 12am on Monday and laid ambush to attack by 3am. “We believe they came into our village around 12am and laid ambush to attack us by 3am. The information we got was that they would attack Uzouwani but no community was mentioned. We even thought it would be Abbi community because of the crisis they are having with Fulani herdsmen”, Ifeanyi said.

On the part of the security operatives, Ifeanyi said the security agencies did nothing to avert the attack despite the fact that they were given a first hand information about their hideout. “Our informant spotted where the Fulani herdsmen camped in between Ameke village and Eshi river and we reported to the police. All they could do was to patrol along Nsukka – Adani road without making any effort to chase them away from their camp”, he revealed.
When Saturday Sun asked for the name of the informant and how he got the information, Ifeanyi said “A man from Opanda whose name was never mentioned said he came in contact with his Fulani friend who warned him to leave Uzouwani with his family and run for his life saying they had recruited over five hundred armed men from Niger and Nasarawa states to attack Uzouwani on Monday. The man said he asked the Fulani man the target but the Fulani man could not tell him. He only said the attack will not happen at Opanda. Before then, they had relocated their cattle to Benue”
“Another man who spotted them at their camp at Ameke was in his farm when he saw them. He wanted to run but they told him not to run because they were not after him. They told him they were going to another community for revenge and not his community. The man came back and raised the alarm and the security agencies were alerted immediately through the Caretaker Committee chairman of Uzouwani LGA, Hon. Cornel Onwubuya”, he explained further.

Motive for the attack
Mr. Ifeanyi Onyeabor claimed he had no idea what the Fulani herdsmen avenged but another informant who would not want to be mentioned has a good information. The source said his Fulani friend came to him and showed him a picture of a Fulani man who was butchered at Uzouwani and they claimed it was Nimbo people that killed him because they also discovered a grave in Nimbo where two Fulani men were buried upside-down.
“He came to my house at Opanda one week before the attack and showed me the pictures. He came with two pictures, one has the image of a man that was sliced like bread and the other has an image of a man whose belly was sliced open and his intestines were removed. He told me that they discovered a grave in Nimbo where two of their people were buried upside-down and they attributed the other two killings to Nimbo people. He told me that they would attack Uzouwani but he never mentioned Nimbo”, the source revealed.

However, the families of late Raphael Irege and Adeja Nwagu have continued to mourn their fathers who were killed in the attack. Speaking to Saturday Sun, Mrs. Ijeoma Catherine Irege, the wife of late Raphael Irege said she wanted to demand for justice over the death of her husband but the way the security agencies handled the attack made her to believe that getting justice will never be possible. “What else can I say or do? I want justice for the death of my husband but it has dawned on me that such a thing is not possible in this country. If the government and the security agencies in Enugu State and Nigeria cannot do anything to stop the attack when they received first hand information that could have helped them, it would be stupid to hope or ask for justice. One will not be wrong to even say they collaborated with the security agencies. What will become of me and my family? Where do we go from here?”, she lamented.

She was Kissed by a Frog Who Didn’t Turn into a Prince’ | Charles Novia on Tiwa Savage’s Revelations

Last night, social media was swept in a storm after singer Tiwa Savage’s interview with Azuka Ogujiuba was published by Pulse, and it since has dominated conversations on social media especially because of the shocking things she revealed about her husband, Tee Billz.
Well,  movie producer and writer, Charles Novia, has reacted via an article published on his blog, Charles Novia Daily.
According to Novia, the interview was completely tacky, poorly delivered, though Savage still has a right of reply. But the producer feels her PR machine failed woefully by not portraying Savage as the iconic singer she is; having her dressed in house cloths, with a scarf bound tightly round her head just to elicit sympathy, is a minus to her brand.

This is a video which would be watched for years to come and even more so by her kid. Having tried so hard to be a Beyonce clone in Nigeria (and that’s my perception of her artistic projections all these years), she should have known too that Beyonce never plays with her optics in any way,” Novia said, adding, “That scarf and sombre look wasn’t the right optics, if you ask me. There are more visually acceptable ways of projecting a diva’s side of the story and her PR team ( if she has any) messed it up there.”

Read his full note:
“I watched the video interview of Tiwa Savage. And I have a few thoughts on it.
Seems to me that the basic idea, coming from a PR perspective, was to pull a fast Olivia Pope ish on the scandal which broke a few hours ago. And  understandably so. Tiwa Savage is a Brand Ambassador for a few top brands such as MTN, Pepsi and Pampers.
Whatever the negative fallout of this impending and scandalous divorce, it’s going to have some downside a bit on the brands she campaigns for. So a fast ‘tell-my-side-of-the-story mode’ had to be employed and fast too.
I don’ t know if a professional PR person was involved with the packaging but it was tacky. Not professionally done, in my opinion. I’m not harping on what she said, as those things are her personal heart cry and she has a right of reply but I’m more interested in the optics of what has been put out.
First, perhaps in a bid to elicit some linear empathy or something, Tiwa was made to think that looking humble and contrite corresponds with tying a dormitory scarf on her head and looking casual in a T Shirt was a good way to send the message home. I think it only demystified her brand more. This is a video which would be watched for years to come and even more so by her kid. Having tried so hard to be a Beyonce clone in Nigeria (and that’s my perception of her artistic projections all these years), she should have known too that Beyonce never plays with her optics in any way. That scarf and sombre look wasn’t the right optics, if you ask me. There are more visually acceptable ways of projecting a diva’s side of the story and her PR team ( if she has any) messed it up there.
I’m asking myself too if the proprietary of having such an interview twenty four hours after the scandal was advisable. For many, it wouldn’t matter but for some, perhaps a little dignified silence would have been advisable. Ma’am, you are supposed to be pop queen. You be ‘ Dorodiva’. A simple press statement that you and your family would love to have your privacy respected at these trying period and bla bla bla  would have kept everyone a bit cool till a proper interview surfaces. Recent clamping up lessons from Toke Makinwa would have helped.
And the spilling though! I really have nothing to say on that much. First, every marriage have peculiar challenges. And couples try to work things out till the pressure point either makes the marriage go South or force the brakes for reconciliation.
I have written many times about couples, especially celebrity couples who ‘flash and form’ seemingly pristine lifestyles on social media and I always end my homilies with the caveat that incessant kudos by one or even both partners to each other on social media at the slightest opportunity, are indications of a festering problem in that marriage. It’s the way it is here. The guy can be pummeling the wife every morning and she still would go up on social media to post his picture with words like ‘the only one for me…my lover, my life’. Incredible.
In her interview, Tiwa said she dreaded his birthdays or wedding anniversaries because of “what people would say”. Sad, when a marriage is predicated on keeping up appearances for the public when it should actually be more private for both couples.
Like I said, what she said in the interview is her right of reply. I would sympathise with her beyond the cosmetic sympathies she’s getting from fans, friends and fiends. She wanted a fairy tale life, worked hard to build it but found out that she was kissed by a frog who didn’t turn out to be the Prince she desired. My sympathy would be on the truncation of that dream and really not the nightmare she woke up from. Because she created it with him. And it had its entertainment value for the fans who lapped it all up.
He was still legally married, from reports back then which were either squashed or played down,  yet she ignored the alarm bells and still went ahead to marry him “after the traditional introduction”. What was celebrated in far away Dubai was just a reception for the introduction perhaps and not the legal nuptials. I stand to be corrected on this?
It’s the classic case of the gullible girls always falling for the bad guys. And when you ask the question why such girls fall into that trap, they would reply that ‘I thought I could change him. That he would change’. Shiooor! His father could not change him, his mother could not change him but it’s you and your ikebe that will now change him?
The gods are wise!
She has denied the allegations of the trysts she purportedly had with Don Jazzy, Dr Sid and Tuface. Just as well too. Because I’m sure those guys must have had some temporary flaccidity after Tee’s ‘depressed’ rant. Person go just siddon e own and next tin your name go dey for somebody gbanshing list! Na wa o.
And hasn’t this marital incubus taken its toll on her career in the past year? I think it has. In my opinion, this last album of Tiwa is crap. It’s quite a flat album. And it’s being received as such since its release in December. Perhaps the matrimonial shenanigans distracted the focus.
It’s going to be hard work to rebuild her career from here on. Hard work.
But she could just reinvent her career too. She seems like one who came into the scene with a ferocious focus to be on top. And she was arguably the biggest female act on he scene before perhaps a personal yearn for emotional fulfilment veered her off the path. And in trying to make a comeback, it hasn’t been easy. The fans have limited patience and other female rivals have come on the scene.
Somehow, some comic relief seems to have come out of this. And it is perhaps culinary by inference. ‘ Edible Catering’. Talk about choking on one’s swallow! No pun intended.
I do not know how people psycho-analysed that Tee Blizz’s instagram rants were as a result of depression. It seemed like a drunken or spaced-out outcry to me when I read it. And an accompanying recant on twitter later that his account was hacked seemed too like some silly sobriety thereafter. It’s high time these celebrities stop using the hacking excuse to cover up for infantile discretions.
In all of this, I do feel some little sympathy for the couple. But there is a larger lesson to be learnt from all this by them and intending couples too ; stop trying to keep up with The Joneses when in actual fact you have forgotten that you are The Jegedes. Keep the ish real.
Oh….and if Tee Blizz was really hovering around the Lekki Ikoyi bridge as reported,  for a suicide swim from which he was saved by Banky and others, then I would advise a whole squad or eagle – eyed friends to surround all bridges in Lagos after this Tiwa’s interview.
She cleaned him out. Finished his ass like he messed up hers the day before.
Depression? Nigger’s likely to see any bathtub as a river after he watches this video.”

Marital crisis: My candid take on Tiwa Savage reply - Channels Television presenter, Gbenga Ashiru

While things have obviously gone messy between the couple, I feel my take can be quite instructive especially for young men and ladies who look at them as role models. There is always room for decorum, I wonder what they both stands to gain by telling the public what's actually mean to be their private affair.
It's sad that a lot of marriage of convenience take place these days without realizing the implication that no matter how desperate you are for marriage you don't have the right to drag an innocent person (the Child) into such conspiracy.

This is obviously a case of culture thrown to the dogs. I expected Tiwa though being a lady that she is plus the public condemnation her hubby's outburst had received to have exercise restraint rather than giving the public a free amusement show, the truth about it is that the public doesn't genuinely care, the reactions are just the nature of men to eavesdrop into the lives of others.

Now this is where it particularly worries me and that's about the damage done to the future of the child.

Now both parents have put the innocent child in a vulnerable future, he would have to deal with scorns from rivals and mischief makers there by blurring his future prospects if he intellectually stands at an advantage.

While I don't support divorce, I reckon that sometimes it may be expedient for both parties to go their separate ways if the union is no longer meaningful but those successful union are product of patience, sacrifice and real tolerance, which is missing in today's couple.

Unfortunately the mothers who had endured marriage to raise good children now misleads their children not to endure.

If you never left your hubby, why are you encouraging someone else to leave.

The truth is that it has left all the parties involved vulnerable, I read Tiwa's comment and if it's true , am worried where she said her friend was asking her about the next step, what an opportunistic statement.

This could mean some people have been waiting to have direct access to Tiwa and had seen her hubby a stumbling block.

Don't get me wrong, this is not to hold brief for a reckless hubby and a possible addict if Tiwa's Savage's claim is through but if an emotionally unstable man could take to the social media and you are doing the same thing, then what makes you better.

Finally and a candid advice to today's lady, watch who you marry, cos marriage is not a bed of roses.

Marriage is not a solution to your insecurity, take your time to find a worthy partner because ten years of been an old layer is better than one day of a miserable marriage.

Randy burglar arrested after inviting victim’s daughter for sexual affair

Love overtures of a suspected burglar, Samson Ugbusun, to the daughter of his victim (name withheld), has led to the arrest of the suspect by the police in Benin, Edo state.

Ugbusun, a 28-year old mason, allegedly broke into the home of his unsuspecting victim at Etete, in Oredo local government area of the state, where he stole two mobile phones.

Not satisfied with his loot, the suspect, using the phone number of his victim’s daughter he saw on one of the phones he stole, went ahead to invite her to ‎spend a night with him in his apartment.

The girl allegedly fell to the randy suspect’s amorous overtures, visited him and spent a night with
him in his apartment.

She however disclosed the whereabouts of the suspect to her mother, who in turn, reported at the Etete Police Division, which eventually led to his arrest.‎

The burglar who hails from Ikpoba Okha local government area of the state‎, narrated how he was arrested to journalists at the State Police Command Headquarters in Benin.
“I stole handsets at Etete, through the window around 11:00 pm. I removed the handset through the window of the house after tearing the net. This is my first time.
“I saw her (victim’s daughter) number on the phone I stole. I called the girl and told her that I love her. She came and spent a night with me and went back to school.
“When she came to my place, she told her mother my address and everything; that was how they got me,” he said. ‎
Ugbusun who blamed his crime on family problem, added that he stole the mobile phones‎ to enable him raise the sum of N800,000 for his late father’s burial.
“It was due to family problems. My father has a house and my family (members) are trying to push me so that I would leave the house for them‎. They said that if I don’t bury my father, I can’t claim ownership of the house.
“I wanted to sell the phones on the streets. But unfortunately, they caught me and I returned the phones back to the owners. I regret it,” he said.
‎The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Osifo, who confirmed the arrest, said that suspect would soon be charged to court, as a prima facie case of burglary and stealing had been established against him.
“Samson Ugbusun specialises in stealing from unsuspecting victims. He can steal handsets as if he had some powers to do so. Luck ran against him when he opened the window of the complainant at night.
“Constructively, he broke in and pulled the handsets with a long stick, picked it from the window. The occupant raised and alarm and he was subsequently arrested. He has confessed to the crime, including other crimes he has committed before.‎
“Very soon, he will be arraigned in court because a prima facie case of burglary and stealing is established against him; he will not go unpunished,” Osifo added.

Horror: Rejected suitor butchers MTN worker, stabs victim’s mother

The tragic incident of Sunday, April 24, was one that the family of Ashinwo, did not see coming.
Had a prophet told Oluwatosin, her siblings and their widow mother, of the danger that lurked around the corner that day, it is unlikely they would have believed it.

In fact, months after they all knew 45-year-old David Ogundele, an engineer, who was deeply obsessed with 30-year-old Oluwatosin, they had no idea they had a killer on their hands.
But it is late to regret; Oluwatosin is dead after being stabbed multiple times by Ogundele along with her mother, who was trying to ward off the attack on her daughter in a flat she rented at Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara State.
As of the time of filing this report, Oluwatosin’s mother was still in intensive care at  a hospital in Ilorin where she had undergone a round of surgery to repair the extensive damage caused by the knife attack on her body.
In fact, one of Oluwatosin’s brothers, told our correspondent that their mother was stabbed more than his sister but she survived to tell the story.
For her sister, the story is grimmer. She had bled to death by the time help came.
Agony of love unreciprocated
The story that culminated in the tragedy that has befallen the Ashinwo family started late last year,Saturday PUNCH learnt.
Oluwatosin, who was a customer care executive with telecommunication company, MTN, had just been transferred from Kano to Kwara State when she met Ogundele.
Our correspondent was told that while Ogundele had a massive crush on the young woman, she had other things on her mind.
“My sister did not love him back and she did not hide it. He did everything to win her love but she just did not like him back,”  one of Oluwatosin’s brothers told our correspondent.
Soon, Ogundele was said to have reached out to the young woman’s siblings with the hope of winning their approval and convincing their sister.
Oluwatosin’s brother said, “At a time when I was in Ilorin at the end of last year, I visited my sister one evening when the man came around. I saw him a second time, two weeks after that in December. I did not ask my sister about him because I knew she was old enough to handle her affairs. But it was clear my sister did not like him.
“My sister used to tell me that he works at Omu Aran. She said the man would always pester her that he wanted to marry her.
“There had been pressure from my mother and other family members for her to get married but she always liked to handle her issues herself. She was the one who sponsored my university education. She was very hardworking. Even apart from her MTN work, she was still selling shoes and bags on the side.
“It happened that the man (Ogundele) got the numbers of my brother and I somehow.”
Soon, Ogundele started to send messages to Oluwatosin’s brothers.
The screen capture of one of such messages shown our correspondent, reads, “Your sister is giving me a serious headache. I don’t know what to do. I love her so much but…Join me in prayers that God should soften her heart.”
In another text message he sent to one of the brothers, Ogundele wrote, “I am at the health centre now. It is your sister’s behaviour that landed me there o. Always thinking (sic) I covet your prayers for survival. If I die, I die for love. You can’t understand.”
At this point, the brothers reached the conclusion that the man was terribly obsessed with their sister, who insisted that she was never going to get into a relationship with or marry him.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that it became clear that Oluwatosin’s mind was made up when Ogundele undertook the most unexpected and shocking step of organising a big birthday  party for the young woman when she clocked 30 in February.
Apart from organising the birthday, he bought a Toyota Matrix as a birthday gift.
As the birthday ceremony started, Ogundele reportedly put a call across to Oluwatosin to come. She never showed up.
“If my sister had accepted the gift, it would have been the same as accepting his proposal. He felt so bad about it,” the deceased’s brother said.
This was said to have infuriated Ogundele, whom they said felt ashamed in the eyes of the guests he had invited to the party.
Oluwatosin’s brothers said her resolve was more affirmed because she had learnt that Ogundele was married already.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that after Ogundele established contacts with Oluwatosin’s siblings, he went ahead to get in touch with their mother too.
“He kept disturbing my brother. My brother initially felt pity for him for the disappointment when he told him he bought a car for my sister but she still disappointed him. When he got my mother’s number, I explained to my mother that he was not the kind of person my sister could marry. My mother decided to tell him that there was nothing she could do about that because she could not force a man on her own daughter to marry.”
On Saturday, their 53-year-old mother travelled to Ilorin to visit Oluwatosin.
That was when she learnt that there had been an incident recently which Oluwatosin did not tell them.
“I called my mother that day and she told me that she was happy that she visited my sister. She said the man (Ogundele) threatened my sister. My mother said my sister told her that the man held a knife to her neck and collected her ATM card and withdrew money from her account.
“My sister told mom that the man threatened that if he did not marry her, he would waste her. We could not finish that conversation that day.”
Then between 8am and 9am on Sunday, the Ashinwo’s worst nightmare came true. Ogundele made good his threat.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that Ogundele showed up and an argument ensued, during which Oluwatosin insisted the man must leave her house.
But rather than leave, in anger, he ran into the kitchen and grabbed a knife.
By the time, he was done, the two women, Oluwatosin, and her mother, who tried to stop the fight, had both been stabbed multiple times.
It was learnt that Ogundele locked his victims in the room, thinking that they were both dead.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the house was deserted at the time as other tenants were not around.
But unknown to him, Oluwatosin’s mother survived and she alerted a trader who had a shop in front of the compound.
The severely injured woman, who had managed to narrate a little of what happened, said she watched as her bleeding daughter breathed her last, as Ogundele locked them inside and fled.
She was later rushed to the hospital where doctors performed an emergency surgery to save her life.
Photographs of the scene of the attack, which were shown our correspondent, showed patches of thickened blood which had turned the white tiles red. The photographs gave an insight into the brutal attack that took Oluwatosin’s life.

Conversation with killer on the run
In a shocking conversation our correspondent struck with the alleged killer (Ogundele) on WhatsApp, he simply rationalised his act by saying “I was bewitched.”
Asked if Oluwatosin provoked him, he said, “It is well.  What can I do now? I was bewitched. How would I attack a lady I claim to love?”
At what point did he think he was bewitched?
“When you did something you never wanted to do that’s how you’ll know. Tell me what to do please,” he said.
Asked what caused the argument in which he stabbed Oluwatosin and her mother, he answered “Please, tell me what to do.”
Our correspondent told him that if he refused to explain what happened, people would read the report and view him simply as a cold-blooded killer, he answered, “At least I will appear in one of the most read newspapers in Nigeria.”
Asked why he did not simply hand himself over to the police, rather than run, he said, “I am in Ilorin, airport area. I am not running.”
He was asked why he stabbed Oluwatosin’s mother too, he denied it and simply said, “Never”. When told that the woman survived, he said, “Thank God for her life.”
When he was told that the more he stayed in hiding, the more he would look guilty, he replied, “Now you are talking.  Is she really dead? Okay. I will hand myself over to the police tomorrow in Ilorin, trust me. She is dead, let me die too.”
Our correspondent later sent him one of his pictures earlier taken from his Whatsapp profile to let him know that his identity was known.
“That’s not my present picture though. I keep an afro now. Long hair. Where are you now?” Ogundele said.
He later signed off the conversation and said, “Talk to you later.”
Hunt for killer
The case was initially reported at the F Division of the Kwara State Police Command, which is located few metres away from where Oluwatosin lived.
The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed that the police are on the trail of the suspect.
Investigators have visited a private university where Ogundele is said to work, but his colleagues said they had not seen nor heard from him since the day before the incident.
The police have called for any information that may help to track down the suspect as he continues to stay in hiding.
As of the time of filing this report, he had yet to hand himself over to the police as he promised our correspondent.

Enugu massacre: How my brother was butchered – Victim’s sister

Enugu massacre
Last Monday invasion of Nimbo Community in the Uzo-uwani Local Government area of Enugu State may have come and gone, the gory tales, the victims and the relics left behind are still very fresh and horrific.

A visit to the National Orthopaedic hospital, Enugu where some of the very serious cases were referred to brings one face-to-face to the reality of the incident. A young lady, Chioma Ezeugwu who is taking care of her brother in the hospital broke the sad news that one of the vixtims, hitherto, moved to Enugu and identified as Akogwu Utazi had died.
She also said that among those referred to the Orthopedic hospital was one Eze Patrick, a youth corps member who returned home to see his mother. Efforts to speak with Patrick failed as the hospital authority said he would not be able to talk at that time.
Chioma who lives in Onitsha said she was returning to her community on that fateful morning when she received a phone call, warning her to stay away from the village. The first hand information, actually, came from his half brother, Celestine Ajugwu who sustained severe injury and as at the time of the visit could not talk.
Her words “We are of the same mother but not the same father.. He is my brother. We are from Nimbo in Uzo-uwani Local Government area of Enugu State. My brother was attacked by the Fulani cattlemen. The Fulanis and our people have been having problems over the land, which the community had allowed them to use for some time before they go back to their place. Our people did not realise that they had already sought for themselves, better accommodation inside the bushes and in our farms.
“When our people go to farm, they discovered that their cassava and crops were being destroyed to the point that they requested the Fulani men to leave; but they refused. On one fateful morning last year, our people were going to their farms and they met the cattle eating up our cassava and destroying other crops. Our people chased away the cows and the action led to a fight between our people and the herdsmen. After the clash, they left in anger but nobody suspected they would return one day on revenge mission. After they left and our people were rejoicing that they had left, unknown to them that some of them were still inside the bush.
“Later, they wrote a letter to our traditional ruler threatening that they would return to wage war whether he liked it or not. Not knowing when the attack would happen, security was stepped up by the police and local vigilante. The youths were also mobilised and they kept vigil every night until that Monday morning. They had dispersed at about 6:00 am to reconvene in the evening only for the Fulanis to creep in few minutes later.
“They came in through the bush and divided themselves into groups. The first man they killed was Eze O. He normally leaves for his farm early in the morning. He was on his way to the farm when they killed him. As they entered the village from the bush, they saw another boy and wanted to go for him but he shouted on top of his voice, attracting the attention of other villagers. The herdsmen shot into the air as the boy took to his heels.
“Their plan was to enter the village unnoticed and move from house to house. As they began to shoot sporadically, people scampered to safety. At a point, the Fulanis discovered that the bullets were not penetrating the bodies of the villagers. So, they decided to use machetes on them.”
On how her brother was caught and matcheted, she said “my brother was coming out from his house when he saw people running. Initially, he thought that people were just running. Suddenly, he saw people dressed in all black attire with a black headbands and armed with daggers, guns and other deadly weapons. He told himself, those people could not have been our people and I started running. He didn’t know that they saw him as he ran back into the house and locked the door.
“As he was peeping through the window, the Fulanis who saw him ordered him to come out or they would come there and kill him, but he refused to open the door. As they put more pressure on him, out of fear he opened the door. The first thing they did as he opened the door was to use the machete on his face causing a good number of his teeth to drop on the floor. As he attempted to run back they shot at him but the gun did not penetrate; they shot the second time on the neck and it came out through his mouth removing some teeth again. He was shouting that they should not kill him that he did nothing to them. One of the attackers then said, ‘no kill am, kill am with knife, no shoot am gun again.’ They then used the knife on his neck more than three times. They were more than five persons surrounding him while another person shouted, ‘cut his hand’ and they used the knife to cut his hand. “The bones holding two of his fingers were cut off. They also cut his back.Thinking he was dead, they left him and moved on. Immediately he got up he said to himself ‘these people wanted to kill me but they cannot.’ Almost immediately, people came out, because this happened at Onueke, and they quickly carried him. At Abe junction, the police took him and carried him to Bishop Shanahan hospital Nsukka.
“Thank God that my mother and two of my other brothers, Celestine and Fidelis Obuka were not injured. They ran out into the bush and were safe. So we have been at the hospital in Nsukka until yesterday (Wednesday). The governor came there that Tuesday; he gave us money; also the senator representing us Chuka Utazi gave us money. They said we should use the money for feeding and that the treatment will be taken care of by the government.”

Tiwa Savage's Filing For Divorce Was Cause Of Teebillz Suicide Attempt

Mavins First Lady and African Pop Diva, Tiwa Savage reportedly filed for divorce from husband Tunji Balogun last week Monday, citing irreconcilable differences and infidelity as cause for the suit, a source with knowledge of the matter authoritatively disclosed to The Herald.

The source stated, “When Tiwa fired Teebillz last year, she found out he was spending from the company account to keep up with his flashy lifestyle. He also sold his Rolex and his benz.”

Citing more instances of irresponsibility on the part of Mr. Balogun, the source said, “He is owing so many night clubs and Tiwa has to pay the bills everytime.

Another source added, “So many girls have sent Tiwa pics of them and TeeBillz sleeping in their matrimonial bed.”

The source stated Tiwa filed for divorce since last Monday. This reportedly enraged Tunji Balogun who was reportedly “so sad that Tiwa was happy and he was burning inside.

The source added, “That’s why he tried to disgrace her and take his life. Thankfully, Banky W and Peter PSquare saved his life because he was really about to jump.

I made a mistake marrying Tbillz and 20 other explosive revelations - Tiwa Savage finally tells it all in new video interview!

Tiwa Savage cries during interview on Teebillz.
Nigerian pop singer, Tiwa Savage, 36, in a video exclusively obtained by Pulse Nigeria has addressed her husband’s shocking allegations made yesterday, Thursday, April 28, 2016.
Tiwa Savage cries during interview on Teebillz.
The singer had quite a lengthy chat with Pulse TV in which she talks about the fact that she was recently pregnant again but she lost the baby. She also adds that she knew her marriage was over for a while. She says when things started (two months ago) she didn’t know whether to keep up appearances or let the world know.

The video is heartbreaking because it confirms that the couple (Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz) will probably be finding their way individually henceforth.

She talks about how she found out about the Instagram posts from a friend and how she was woken up from sleep to hear all about what had been posted on Instagram. According to her, her first thought was that maybe they found him dead. She says that when she heard that nobody could find him her initial thought was that “We need to find him. He might be suicidal.”.

She didn’t even know the extent of what he had said until much later. Tiwa Savage explains that her phones were taken away from her and she was just scared for his life.
Tiwa Savage categorically denies every cheating on her husband…”and Tunji knows this” she adds.

Watch the video below

and if you don't have enough data to, here are edited quotes of her interview below.
  1. When I woke up, I thought they found him dead. My first thought was that we need to find him, he is suicidal, and we need to make sure he is alive. I didn’t even know what he had said. Someone took my phone from me, they don’t want me to see what was said online. I was just sacred for his life.
  2. At around 10 and 11, Banky W’s Mum and his family were praying, and we got the call that he was found in Lekki, and that he has been taken to Banky’s House.
  3. For the past two months, TJ and I have not been together, it was something we were working through, but I knew this marriage would not work.
  4. I haven’t spoke to TJ in about a week, and we were supposed to get some passports for my son. He was reading the messages and he wasn’t responding. I begged him to be friends, and let’s be good parents to Jamil. He didn’t respond.
  5. I covered up for a lot of hurt in our relationship. Just before I went to Jamaica, I found out that I was pregnant. We were just trying to find out how we were going to manage another baby so soon. I got to London, on a 10-hour flight to shoot a video with Busy Signal (Reggae Artiste). While doing my makeup,  I found out I was bleeding and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital, and we were trying to call TJ to tell him what happened. While we were sleeping at two AM a number called him saved as Edible Catering….I checked his phone, and the number was asking him if she can come to his hotel. She responded that He (TJ) knocked her out last night, that he was a great night. I confronted him, and he said he took another woman to the hotel and said they were just chilling. This happened the period I was in Jamaica, and I was in the hospital. I sent TJ pictures, and he was busy with another woman. I was in ahospital and you couldn’t be bothered find out what happened to me. I packed my stuff, took my son and went to my friends house, her name is Tiwa also. I stayed the night, and she asked me for the next step, I told her I was done.
  6. I covered up for so long because I wanted people to believe that TJ is the one that takes care of me, TJ is the head of the house…I wanted him to be the head of the house. I covered up so much.
  7. TJ has not spent one Naira, I paid for hospital bills, his flight, his accommodation, we also went shopping for TJ so that he will have new things. His excuse was that Í don’t have money’. I had to pay for everything so that he can go out and hustle, and get the contracts. He didn’t have money for diapers, but he had money to have a bi-weekly haircut, had money to pay for his laundry, had money to take a woman to the hotel.
  8. His cooking allegations is a lie. I am not going to say because of my career that I am not going to cook. I work long hours to put money in the house, I work to make sure that we have a roof over our house. I come back home really late, and when I make something for myself, I make some for TJ. I had to hire a cook to cook for me, him and the other people that live in the house, I don’t think that is wrong…Even if it is true, the things he puts me through will not even encourage me to ask him if he is hungry. He goes out and you come home at 7 in the morning, sometime 2pm. He comes back drunk, he comes back angry, and we don’t know what sort of mood he is in. Sometimes TJ will go out and he will not call, and he will not tell him. I am just sacred for his safety, I will be calling him frantically, to find out that he didn’t go and drink. I am even praying that he is with another woman, so that at least I know that he is alive. That’s not the person that I will ask if he has eaten.
  9. When I sacked him as my manager – I will never discredit or take away that TJ worked hard, hustled and believed in me. But what I will say is that at one point….he is booking events and he will book shows. The first time I found out that there was foul play was when he booked me for a wedding in London. I have to be paid before I perform. I called one of the organisers, and said I have not been paid. He said that the show has been paid four months ago, he showed me the account were they paid him. TJ declared that the show was for 3M but they really paid 4.5M, out of the 3M he was still receiving the management fee 40%. He took money already, and collected his percentage, and he didn’t feel anything. He was stealing from his wife. I had to perform at the wedding for free. I do get to perform for free when he takes my money.
  10. My mum is based in the UK, and when I had Jamil she moved back to Nigeria with us. My mother is not like that (witchcraft), she is a sweet lady, and she’s very British, she doesn’t judge, she is not hung up like that. A lot of times, my mom would say ‘Tiwa you are the wife, be patient, don’t curse don’t shout, build the home.’ She has been nothing but a great support for me. I would love for him to tell me if there is something my mother has done.
  11. I have never cheated on my husband. Not with Don Jazzy, Dr Sid, 2face Idibia or anybody. I have never cheated on my husband, and Tunji knows this. He knows that in his heart. (She breaks down in tears) Sometimes in the studio, one of the things that Don Jazzy and some of my other label mates say is that I am really good with interviews, with being diplomatic and knowing how to carry myself with difficult situations. This hurts. I have seen comments of what people are saying about me. It is not true.
  12. I know that for every human being when your father’s ways are not straight, it will bother you. Since I sacked him from my management, he has been struggling financially. He was stealing from me, so I had to save my marriage and separate business from family. TJ wants to keep up with the Joneses, he wants to live a life that is not true. He went to buy a car, a Mercedes that he knew that he didn’t have the money for it. The person kept up calling that he wants the balance. I ended up paying the balance of over 3M. When it was time to pay, I put the money in his account, so they don’t know I was the person paying for it. He also bought a Rolex, and didn’t pay the balance. They threaten to go to the press, and to protect my name, I will have to pay for it. He goes to clubs and leaves the tabs for me, and I have to pay for him. He is putting us in debt.
  13. What set off all off this was that he went to borrow 45 million Naira from someone and he lost it. I just found out that EFCC was investigating a case against him, and my brother called me from London and confirmed it that TJ is in deep trouble, and that some people might hurt him, that I should be careful. In my frantic mode to try and suppress this situation I went to one of my big bros who can help. A week ago I told TJ that we were running out of Jamil’s food, but he didn’t do nothing. He complains, but cuts his hair twice a week. I have been searching for N45M so that they don’t kill him, so that they EFCC does not carry him. What kind of man does that, and says I am the one taking away his manhood.
  14. I walked in on TJ taking cocaine in my house in 1004 (Victoria Island, Lagos). I didn’t even know he takes cocaine. I walked into the kitchen, and I saw him taking cocaine, so I screamed, and asked if that is cocaine. HE started screaming that ‘What am I doing down here, where is the cocaine?’ How can someone without money take cocaine? I called his parents and complained that I can deal with weed, but cocaine, no. So I am dealing with his alcohol problem, you come home late, infidelity, coaciane, bad debt, jealousy over my success.
  15. Before marriage, Idin’t know of his third child in Nigeria. A lot of people warned me about him, but I am going to say I made a mistake. At the beginning everyone says you can’t leave the marriage because our culture frowns on it. I made a mistake, do I have to wait ten years, 15 years? If I am not happy. And I was scared that if I ever find somebody else to marry me? That’s the msiconceptions of our society. I don’t care if I ever get married again. I care about being happy for Jamil, I care about not walking on eggshells. I do want a man that works, that will help me with my financial burden. He doesn’t have to be a millionaire or billionaire, but at least someone that helps, and won’t put me in more debt.
  16. Everyday all I hear from TJ is that ‘I created you, I took you from nothing, look at you now.
  17. The marriage is finally over, it’s been over for a while, and I have covered up for a while. What happened was God-sent, and he made it easier for me to walk away with what he did on social media. He got so many people angrier, he pulled so many innocent people into this. Even his family. He made it easy for me to finally up and walk away.
  18. I will never stop hum from seeing Jamil, never. Even today, Jamil is still saying ‘dadada’, and I was saying it with him as well, that’s his first word. I want to bring him up to be a good man.
  19. Even till now I don’t wish anything bad on him. As we are doing this interview, I am worried that if he sees it, it might trigger him to do something bad. I don’t want my son to grow up and know, God forbid, that his father commited suicide. Tonight, I am still gonna pray for him.
  20. He was getting help at one point when the whole cocaine thing came out. This has been happening for a long time. We get him helpo and he goes to see a doctor or a pastor, or a counsellor and he uses his own hands to ruin things again. If I didn’t care about him, I wouldn’t be covering up for a lot of things. I wouldn’t be searching for help for him. Even now I am still searching for a way to help him out of his debt, so that if he is out of this,
  21. If there is anything that maybe I overlooked, or didn’t love him enough, or made him less of a man, then I am sorry. I am absolutely sorry…Tunji I am sorry. But you know I tried everything, you know I love you so much, and I am sorry, I never wanted to divorce, and I never wanted it to get to this. I want you to get better…and I would always pray for you.

Nigerians Blasts Anna Banner for calling out club owner who used her picture for club promotion

Earlier today Anna Banner called out Abuja Club owner, Uyi Ogbebor for using her picture to promote her club without her permission.

She wrote: “I have no idea why you chose to use my picture as a means of advertisement for your club without my permission. kindly take down this picture. cc @moashystyling @davesucre@mr_laah.

Nigerians on Uyi's page however saw it as an opportunity to bash Anna because they felt she was throwing a diva tantrum and she had no right to ask the club owner to put the picture down.
