Funke Akindele's husband speaks on Toyo Baby's exit from Jenifa's Diary

Days ago, Jenifa Diary actor, Toyosi reportedly left the productions after a misunderstanding with Funke and all fingers were pointing at you, what really happened?

I don’t know why Toyosi left and it has nothing to do with me. Just like any character in a TV series, she can go and return. The only permanent character in the series is Jenifa. Falz has gone and came back. In the script Toyosi is married and has gone to France with her husband to live for a while.

So, anything can happen. When she comes back, you’d see her on screen, if not, then that’s what the script said.

But it was also reported that Funke un-followed her on social media…..true?
Well, I don’t know about that. I’m not 100 percent sure of that. I’ll have to check Instagram to find out about that.

Security Guards Burgle Boss’ Home, Steal Cash, Electronics Worth N6m

Two security guards working at a house in Ikeja GRA, have been arrested after breaking into their boss’ house through a burglar-proof to steal hard currency and electronics.

The suspects, Abu Abubakar and Hadi Isiaka, indigenes of the same community in Kogi State, were employed through an agent, to work as day and night guards at the home of the GRA-based businessman, who frequently travels out of the country.

Isiaka, 30, had worked at the house for about two years before Abu was employed by their boss who did not know they were kinsmen.

24yrs old Abu, according to Punch, was sent packing from the house less than four months after he started work on suspicion of his criminal nature.

The police said the landlord of the house travelled abroad with his family in December 2016 only to come back and realised that $2,000 he kept in his bedroom was gone.

In addition to that, part of the bundles of N200 and N100 notes kept in the room were also taken.

But the case was not reported as the landlord decided he wanted to be sure of the actual thief before reporting to the police so the innocent ones out of his domestic staff would not suffer.

After trying in vain to determine how the house, which was locked up could have been accessed in his absence, he travelled again few months after with his family with the hope that the burglary was a one-off thing.

But this time, 2,000 Euro belonging to the landlady and the entire bundles of mint Nigerian notes which the family kept for social events were carted away.

Also stolen in the house were Apple Macbook, iPads and other valuables. Later, it was discovered that a hole barely enough for an adult’s head to pass through had been cut through the burglar-proof of one of the rooms in the house.

The police said the entire worth of mobile phones, perfumes and cash stolen on the two occasions amounted to N6m.

However, when Isiaka was questioned about how the house was burgled while he was working, he denied knowledge of it, but instead diverted suspicion to a former guard who was recalled to the house after Abu’s sack.

When asked if Abu could have perpetrated the burglary, Isiaka said he did not think so.

He was later asked to contact Abu since it had been discovered that they were both kinsmen but he insisted that Abu had left for their village to bury his mother.

A police source who is familiar with the investigation, said that when Isiaka finally took them to where Abu lived, they met Abu’s mother but they did not reveal themselves as policemen.

On a second visit, Abu’s mother was said to have disguised as someone else with a hijab and told the police that Abu would not be home from work for some days.

“We realised she must have learnt that we were policemen. When we threatened to arrest her until the actual mother showed up, she removed her Hijab and said she was indeed Abu’s mother that we had met the first time,” the police source said.

Our correspondent learnt that the woman promptly took them to Abu’s house where he was arrested.

He later confessed that he indeed carried out the burglary. Isiaka on his part first admitted to getting a share of N50,000 from proceeds of the loot. Again he change his words and said his share was N175,000. Later, he denied he got anything at all.

The suspects were detained at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, Lagos.

On Thursday, the police said the suspects had been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.

They were charged on three counts of conspiracy, burglary and stealing punishable under sections 411, 287 (7) and 307 (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

The suspects were admitted to a N200,000 bail each by Magistrate R. N. Johnson, while the case was adjourned till June 21, 2017 for mention.

Nigeria Moving Out Of Recession – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said on Saturday that Nigeria was gradually moving out of recession.

Mohammed, who was represented by the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr Bayo Onanuga, made the assertion at the biennial convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Lagos.

He said that going by a recent statement by the Central Bank Governor, the country would exit recession by the end of June.

“There have been other pointers for the good news as well. For two consecutive months, the National Bureau of Statistics has also reported a fall in inflation rate.

“The exchange rate is regaining some sanity.

“As I said earlier, the worst appears to be over. We are clawing out of the woods of recession in weeks from now, “ the minister said.

Mohammed said that the Buhari administration and collective will of Nigerians had shamed doomsday prediction that our recession could worsen into a depression.

“I hope, in our various media, we shall begin to focus more on the positive developments in our economy, the growth in agriculture and mineral development, since the NBS last year, let out the secret that the Nigerian economy recorded a negative growth in the first quarter of 2016, “ he said.

The minister said that recession was not peculiar to the country.

He said that the United States of America had experienced 47 recessions, some regressing into depressions.

“Between 1980 and 2007 alone, the American economy experienced five recessions. The last one in 2007 was caused by the subprime mortgage crisis and led to the collapse of the US housing bubble,” he said.

Mohammed urged the media to stop the blame game and educate Nigerians on the efforts being made to end recession.

“Informing the people that the government is working hard to end the
recession will go a long way to give hope to the people.

“After all, it is said that ”if you keep hope alive, it will keep you alive,” the minister said.

Nigerian Djs Are Richer Than Artistes- DJ Shabzy

Kiss Daniel’s official DJ, DJ Shabzy, has declared that DJs are richer than artistes in Nigeria because DJs save more than artistes. He told showtime in an exclusive chat that unlike DJs who get to save more of their income, Nigerian artistes spend extravagantly to maintain their identity and status but DJs have no reason to do so therefore they save more of their income.

“As a matter of fact when you talk about the revenue in the music industry; DJs get to save much more than the artistes, I’m not talking about the A’list artistes now, I’m talking about the average artistes that are known.

I can tell you that DJs probably earn much more and save more than the artistes because DJs get to go for shows back to back; our standard of living is less to what the artistes will have to live on. Artistes want to change clothes every minute but DJs don’t really have reasons to go into that kind of lifestyle, because we have the name out there but less is to the identity, so it saves us much than the artistes. We are doing better than them, I’m not top notch, but I’m doing fine.”

He pointed out a key area the music industry needs to urgently address before it erodes the very essence and credibility of the creative craft. He told Showtime that in his experience in the music industry, some artistes personally pay people to pirate their own songs, just to spin a web of controversy that will promote it.

He said; “One thing I think artistes in Nigeria are doing that is not so cool and needs to be addressed is going to the extent of paying people to pirate their own songs all in the name of promotion.”

Aspiring footballer turns robber after losing out of Under-17 team

Twenty-nine-year-old James Udobong, an Akwa Ibom State indigene turned to robbery after he was notpicked as part of the Nigerian National football team.

After training as hard as he could in 2003, Udobong found his way to Abuja, to participate in an Under-17 trial.Udobong was not picked. And so ended his hope of ever becoming a football star.

To survive, he was repairing phones at Wuse Market but soon, he could no longer pay his shop rent, according to claims.

Udobong said after he could no longer make ends meet, one of his friends suggested that he followed him to Transcorp Hilton and other five star hotels in Abuja, where they could target customers who were drunk in order to steal their phones.

He said,
“My friend also taught me how to place orders online for expensive mobile phones. We tell the dealers that we were buying the phones on behalf of a prominent politician lodged in any of the five-star hotels we choose to use.
“When the dealer makes delivery, we take him to a floor of the hotel and take the phones inside a door under the guise of delivering it to the politician but the dealer wouldn’t know that door leads through a staircase downstairs.
“Usually, after taking the phone, I jump inside a waiting taxi in the ground floor and leave the hotel. But in my last operation, I brought the dealer to Transcorp and asked him to wait outside the room in order to show the phone to my principal. I got into a lift and went to the ground floor. But I was arrested by waiting security men at the hotel.”
Udobong was handed over to the police who recovered all the phones he stole from the dealer – iPhone, Infinix Note, two tablets and two Samsung Galaxy phones.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the IRT had been trailing the suspect after several complaints by victims prompted the police to put hotels on alert.

Soyinka, at a forum in Lagos on Friday, themed, ‘Sacred Cow’, said,

Female Court Official Remanded In Prison For N9.2m Fraud

The EFCC on Friday, April 28, arraigned a deputy chief registrar of the Ibadan Judicial Division of Oyo State High Court, Mutiat Omobola Adio, before Justice S. Olagunju of Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on a 2-count charge of fraud to the tune of N9.2million.

Mrs. Adio allegedly collected the sum as payment for a property located at Plot 10, Block XXIV, Bashorun Estate, Ibadan, sold to one Yekini Olonade, but failed to surrender the title documents of the property to him.

Efforts of the victim to recover the money or have possession of the property yielded no result.

The offense is contrary to Section 1 (2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.

When the charges were read to her, she pleaded not guilty.

In view of her plea, counsel to EFCC, Oluwatoyin Owodunni, asked the court to fix a date for the prosecution to present its witnesses and for the remand of the defendant in prison.

But, Adio’s counsel, T.O. Moneke, prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable her file application for bail of the defendant.

Consequently, Justice Olagunju adjourned to May 5, 2017, for the hearing on the bail application.

“The defendant is to be remanded in prison custody”, the judge ordered.

Trump Claims He Hasn't Had Any Legislative Success In His First 100 Days

President Trump dismissed the idea that he hasn't had legislative success in his first 100 days in office, claiming 28 bills have been passed.

Despite noted setbacks, including his failure to replace Obamacare, the President said he doesn't think 'anybody' has accomplished what his administration has in 100 days, while simultaneously calling the milestone a 'false standard.'

Although there has been no major legislation passed, Trump told Fox News's Martha MacCallum in an exclusive interview: 'First of all, we had 28 bills.'

The 28 laws, which don't include the myriad executive orders he has signed, include two that name Veterans Affairs clinics in honor of people, 13 that repeal Obama-era rules and five related to personnel matters, including a waiver that allowed James Mattis to become Defense Secretary.

During the interview, President Trump touted bonding with Chinese President Xi Jinping to help with North Korea, saying he hopes he can 'pull it off' when it comes to reigning in Kim Jong Un, who test-launched another ballistic missile, which reportedly broke up mid-flight and failed.

'We'll see what happens,' he said.

Adm. Harry Harris Jr., commander of U.S. Pacific Command, said relations with the nation are at the worst he's ever seen and there is 'no doubt' in his mind that Kim Jong Un intends to fulfill his pursuit of a nuclear-tipped missile capable of striking the United States, according to CBS News.

Trump also said he was proud of the confirmation of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court saying, 'I think he’ll be a great one.'

As for the failed replacement for ObamaCare, he still claims the healthcare marketplace is over.

ObamaCare is exploding. ObamaCare is dead - essentially, ObamaCare is dead, it's not going to make it,' he said.

He said he was 'disappointed' that Republicans didn't have a better plan in place.

'I was disappointed that they didn't have more in line by the time I walked in,' he said. As for a replacement, he said 'I believe they're going to get it done,' and predicted it could happen as early as next week.

As for his sweeping tax cut plan, he said that most of it would benefit small business and 'the biggest of all beneficiaries are middle-income people who have really been hurt.'

Most tax experts have said the plan will mostly benefit the richest Americans.

'The only Americans who are very clear winners under the new system are the wealthiest,' Edward D, Kleinbard, a law professor at the University of Southern California and former chief of staff of Congress’s Joint Committee on Taxation, which estimates the revenue effects of tax proposals, told the New York Times.

Trump said in his first 100 days, he has 'created great foundations in terms of relationships with China and with Japan and with many, many other countries.'
