Why Fayose was not selected to visit Buhari in London – Presidency
The presidency Tuesday revealed why governor Fayose is not one the seven governors that were chosen to visit President Mugammadu Buhari in London.
According to presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, the selection was handled by the governors forum.
He also said that the non inclusion of the media team especially television or newspapers could be to save money.
Briefing State House Correspondents on the visit of the seven governors led by the Chairman of Governors Forum and Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, Femi Adeshina said
The selection was by the governors forum and you will see that the delegation is headed by governor Yari who is chairman of that forum. So that question should go to the forum.”On why the president preferred the broadcast option while addressing Nigerians, he said,
“It is a question of what he prefers and this is what he prefers for now. He would rather receive that delegation and that is what is happening. If the president opts for address option he will do it.” He further explained the reason for the visit against the backdrop that it had been reported that President Buhari was recuperating, he said it was the best time for the president to receive visitors as he was recovering. He said: “Instead of being curious, it should be the right time for the visit. When somebody has recovered or something has happened, it’s in our culture to visit such a person. So, this is the right time to visit the president because the news is that he is recovering and recovering well.”The presidential aide was unable to confirm the date of two weeks time for the return of the president as announced by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state.
Meantime, the media team of the presidency has said that it is only the medical team of President Buhari who has been on medical vacation since 7th May can determine when the President would return to Nigeria.

14-Year Old Bride In Niger Kills Husband 5 Months After Marriage
The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 14-year-old wife from Lifari Village in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing her 40-year-old husband, Isiaka Usman.
It was learnt that the suspect, Aisha Isah, and the late Usman, to whom she got married five months ago, were cousins.
Northern City News gathered that Isah had been complaining of starvation and maltreatment since she started living with Usman, who already had two wives.
One of the two wives was said to have left on account of the failure of Usman to meet up with his responsibilities to his family.
The teenage wife told a Punch correspondent on Tuesday that her late husband failed to provide for her for two days.
“And when I confronted him, he slapped me and out of anger, I hit him on the forehead with a pestle and he collapsed and died,” she explained.
Isah added, “My husband had the habit of not giving us money for food and each time we (the wives) confront him, he would tell us to go to our parents’ home and eat. He never cared about us; he beat us every time we demanded money for food.”
Asked if the other wife was at home at the time of the incident, she stated that the other wife went to the hospital with her baby.
“My mate was not around; it was only me and my late husband that were in the house at the time of the incident. I picked a pestle and hit him, he fell on the ground and I ran to my mother’s house at Kahigu Village in Mashegu council,” Isah said.
Isah said she inadvertently killed her husband out of anger and pleaded for forgiveness.
“I am sorry for what happened, it is the devil’s work and I pray my parents will forgive me; I never knew that he would die, I regretted all my actions,” she stated.
The police spokesman, Bala Elkana, explained that the victim died at Mashegu Hospital where he was taken for treatment.
Elkana described the incident as unfortunate, but added that the suspect would nevertheless be prosecuted as a juvenile offender.

Concerned Nigeria Sparks Again, We Are Ready To Commence Our Protest If Buhari Does Not Return
A pressure group, Concerned Nigerians, on Monday said it was prepared to carry out its earlier threat to embark on a nationwide protest and occupy the National Assembly as from August 7, if President Muhammadu Buhari failed to resume work as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The organisation said it had started mobilising Nigerians at home and abroad to ensure the realisation of its demand for information on the health status of the President.
CN’s protest threat is contained in a statement by its convener, Deji Adeyanju, and Secretary, John Danfulani.
The statement read, “The media was agog with the picture of President Muhammadu Buhari with leaders of his political party and some selected state governors. You will recall that President Muhammadu Buhari left the country since May 7 and has remained in London, United Kingdom, attending to an undisclosed ailment at the expense of taxpayers’ money.
“It will be 90 days on August 6 since the President left Nigeria. In line with our earlier ultimatum given to the president to return to the country and resume work on or before the 90th day of his departure from the country on medical tourism to the United Kingdom, we have commenced the process of mobilising Nigerians to ensure we demand accountability on the health status of the President and activate Section 144 to declare him incapacitated and declare his seat vacant.”
The Punch had reported the threat by the CN to commence a daily sit-out at the National Assembly on the 90th day of President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence from the country last week.

Honour Killing ! Indian teen raped and murdered for going out with Arab Muslim
An Indian Muslim teenager was Tasered, kidnapped, raped and murdered in an alleged 'honour killing' after she began a relationship with an Arab Muslim, a court heard.
The body of Celine Dookhran, 19,was found inside a £1.5million home in south west London and a court heard the Indian Muslim was 'raped and murdered after she started seeing an Arab Muslim'.
According to Daily Mail, Ms Dookhran was allegedly kidnapped bound and gagged with the other woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and taken to an address in south west London where they were raped and Ms Dookran was killed on July 19.
A post mortem gave the cause of death as a wound to the neck. The surviving victim said a sock was forced into her mouth and the kidnappers used a Taser to subdue both her and Ms Dookhan before they were rolled in dustsheets and bundled into a vehicle, said Ms Roscoe.
In her last message, posted a week before her death, she wrote: 'Alhamdulilah for everything that's all I can say.'
Mujahid Arshid, 33, appeared in court charged with the murder, rape and kidnap of Miss Dookhran.
He is further charged with the rape, attempted murder and kidnap of the second woman.
He appeared alongside his co-defendant, Vincent Tappu, 28, who is charged with the kidnap of both women.

I Can't Keep Quiet- Blackface Calls On FG To Arrest 2face Over Song 'Theft'
Blackface has no intention of letting his beef with former Plantashun boyz band mate, 2Face simmer down, insisting 2face must apologize. In a recent interview with HipTV, the singer claimed 2 Face is yet to acknowledge him for his role in writing African Queen.
.
Speaking on Faze’s move to reconcile them,he said
“Faze is my friend and he is going to do his own bit. But, one thing that he does not know is that who feels it, knows it. He didn’t write the song, I did. So he does not know what I am talking about. It is easy for him to call for peace. But then, it is the duty of the offender to apologise for his action. I can’t keep quiet about what happened because I haven’t offended anybody. I have not stolen anybody’s song.”He also stated that the Federal Government is yet to institute an appropriate punishment for individuals who are involved in song theft.
.
“Had the Federal Government introduced an appropriate punishment for stealing other people’s songs, many music artistes would be in trouble today. If the penalty required offenders to spend some years in jail, many so-called big artistes would be in prison by now.
“Some of them steal songs from fellow musicians based in the country or abroad and pass them off as their own. This is very bad for culture and the creative sector. It is also bad enough for the honest and hardworking Nigerian artiste who goes through a lot of trouble to survive.“Whatever the government decides, the courts are there to ensure that justice prevails. If you find yourself on the wrong side of the law, you will have to accept the consequence of your actions.”

Lagos APC Member Electrocuted In Flooding
A member of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lateef Ajikanle, has been electrocuted in his home on Bolaji Omupo Street, Somolu.
The father of four reportedly returned home after prayers in a mosque to meet his compound flooded.
It was gathered that the flood was worsened by the rubble of a collapsed fence owned by a poultry farmer on an adjoining street, Lisabi Street. Punch Metro learnt that the Oyo State indigene waded through the flood. He was reportedly picking rubbish in the water when he was electrocuted.
A neighbour, who attempted to rescue him was also reportedly electrocuted, but escaped death by a whisker. Officials of the Ikeja Electric, Onipanu Business District, were said to have been alerted to the incident.
After power was disconnected from the community, Lateef, who also worked with the State Universal Basic Education Board, was reportedly rushed to a general hospital where he was confirmed dead.
His younger sister, Monsuru Ajikanle, told Punch correspondent on Sunday that the 50-year-old was preparing to participate in the last Saturday’s local government election when tragedy struck.
She said, “He went to the mosque that day. The rain started early in the morning and everywhere was flooded. He was coming back from the mosque around 7am when he saw that the fence owned by the poultry farmer on the next street had collapsed on the pumping machine in our compound.
“Also, the flood water could not flow out and there were waste paper and other dirty materials everywhere. He started picking the rubbish from the water. He was doing that when his hand touched the live wire exposed after the fence fell on the pumping machine. He was electrocuted.
“One of our neighbours, Femi, ran into the flood to help him, but the electric current in the water forced him back. We called the Ikeja Electric to disconnect the power.”
Monsuru told Punch correspondent that Lateef was rushed to the General Hospital, Somolu, where he was confirmed dead.
Punch Metro learnt that the victim’s wife had been taken to their family house in the Surulere area.
Punch correspondent was told that Lateef worked in the Supply and Finance Department of SUBEB, Somolu.
Another family member, Dele Alakija, blamed the owner of the poultry for the incident.
Alakija said, “The poultry is on Lisabi Street, and the fence that collapsed was built by the owner to separate the poultry from our compound. We had reported to the local government about a year ago that the man’s operation was making life difficult for us and he should relocate, but nothing was done.
“Alhaji (Lateef) had written a letter which we planned to submit on the menace of the poultry. When the fence fell on the pumping machine, it exposed a live wire from the machine and that was what killed him. The poultry should cease operation. The offensive stench of the birds and the noise from the generator are unbearable.”
Punch correspondent learnt that the incident was reported to the police at the Somolu division.
A check on the Facebook page of the deceased showed he was indeed a staunch member of the APC as some friends paid tributes to his memories and leadership.
Among his last activities on the social media was the poster of the chairmanship candidate of the APC in Surulere.
A top source at the General Hospital, Somolu, confirmed the incident, adding that Lateef was brought in dead.
“A 50-year-old man was brought by some neighbours. They claimed that he stepped on a live cable during the heavy rain and was electrocuted. He was brought in dead,” he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the police were not aware of the incident.
“Nothing like that at Somolu division please,” he said.
The Head, Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Felix Ofulue, said the company was not to blame for the death.
He said, “The man was electrocuted by his pumping machine. His pumping machine had a wire cut which fell into a pool of water. He was raking the dirt in his house when he was electrocuted.”
