8th DoTheDream Leadership and Youth Development Summit

June 3rd- June 5th 2014.
Do The Dream Youth Development Initiative is a nongovernmental, nonreligious organization that focuses on using both formal and informal education as a creative tool for developing and empowering youths towards promoting change in society.

Do The Dream events/projects which include ‘Do the Dream Seminar’, ‘Do the Dream Leadership and Youth Development Summit’ and Do the Dream Leadership Library’ arose from a burning desire to reach out to high school students and kindle in them the desire to aspire for greatness irrespective of their background or perceived circumstances. The quest to see students maximize their potentials by exploring all the qualities inherent in them and stirring an attitudinal change gave birth to this vision. Ultimately we believe that this would cause a massive transformation in the next generation of Nigerians that would in turn impact the society and make Nigeria our dream country.

This year summit is a unique because United Nations Information Centre has endorsed the programme and will be participating in every aspect of the programme. There will be unveiling a campaign “SAY NO TO BAD LYRICS” which is being champion by fresh graduates from Government Secondary Schools. The Programme Schedule is as follows

Day ONE: 3rd June 2014
BE THE CHANGE- BE RESPONSIBLE WALK
It has been observed that young people don’t want to think anymore but to be a liability to the society. They prefer to work from outside to inside which is not looking inwards and develop the gift deposited in them. They prefer to join a race of nowhere which is the reason why we have a lot of irresponsibility all over the society. “Be The Change- Be Responsible walk” serves as a re-awakening call from parents to youths, from fathers to son and daughters, from brothers to sisters, so as to promote the values and ideals of our founding fathers stood on (hard work, diligence, Honesty) in creating environment that works.

Day Two: 4th June 2014
Unveiling of “SAY NO TO BAD LYRICS” at United Nations Information Centre.
Alfred Reward, Ikoyi. Lagos.

The programme which is championed by graduates of Government Secondary Schools is an avenue of reaching out to musicians on the impact of their music in the making of a life.. We are not fighting the messengers but we are against the message. We are appealing to the producers, artistes that if they can channel their gifts to produce bad lyrics, them can as well use it for good lyrics.

It is about the time we become the change we are dreaming off and model the excellence that will impact our world.
