Why Jonathan Is Hunting Governor Kwankwaso ––Shehu Sani

Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso is being hunted by President Goodluck Jonathan’s led administration because of his dissent, belief and refusal to compromise conscience, a Kaduna-based human rights activist, Shehu Sani has said. He said all the ills and vices ascribed to him by the Federal Government were only splashed at him because he was bold enough to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join APC.
“If all the evils and corruption by Kwankwaso were true, why did President Jonathan wait for Kwankwaso to be in the APC before making them public? Since the defection of Kwankwaso from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and since the revelation of monumental theft of our national treasury by the ex- Governor of Central Bank and now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration has unleashed a regime of terror and intimidation against the two prominent and principled Nigerians.
“Federal Government has consistently targeted them for state persecution and slander. It is no coincidence that the Federal Government has meddled into the appointment of the Emir of Kano. On this, the government of President Goodluck Jonathan stands unambiguously condemned.”
Shehu Sani, who is the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria in an interview, said Kwankwaso was a victim of a desperate and dying government.

He declared that the campaign of calumny and innuendos targeted against Kwankwaso was a mischievous but failed attempt by President Jonathan and his henchmen and hatchet men to rubbish his hard-earned reputation.
In the same vein, he asked the Federal Government to allow Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to preside over the affairs of his emirate, noting that Emir Sanusi was duly and properly appointed in conformity with the relevant laws, customs and tradition.

According to Daily Trust, he said the interference by the Federal Government was nothing but a continuation of the federal mission to morally stain him and physically incapacitate him.

“The interest, energy and resources invested by the Federal Government to nail Sanusi could have been of better used if directed at addressing the security challenges bedevilling our country. It is unwholesome and unacceptable that the government of President Jonathan edges to tyranny. The government has by its chains of breaches of fundamental human rights striped itself of most of its component of legitimacy.

"While we celebrate the over 15 years of uninterrupted civil rule, the Jonathan administration has by its action continued to spit on our faces. The sadistic tendencies of the Jonathan-led administration threatens the very existence and spirit of our democracy. Apologists of the government need to be reminded that this democracy was fought and won after a prolonged battle with the military, so we cannot stand by and watch the nation slide back to darkness of authoritarianism,” he added.
