Dismissed female worker connives with others to rob former employer

A dismissed worker of Tecno phones Nigeria Ltd, Stella Chimezie, has been arrested for conspiring with four men to rob her former employer in Abuja.

Chimezie, along with Abdulazeez Abdulraseed, Okafor Okwudili, Moses Joseph and Peter Akoo, were paraded by the FCT Police Commissioner, Wilson Inalegwu, on Tuesday, for stealing four Tecno phones and seven phone screens valued at N500,000.
According to Punch,Inalegwu explained that Chimezie invited the men to burgle the company office, but the robbers surprisingly attacked and robbed her of her phones and handbag as well.

But in the course of the police investigations, the CP stated that it was discovered that it was Chimezie that invited the suspects to burgle her former employer’s office.

Chimezie, however, denied conniving with the men to rob, saying the Tecno phones and the phone screens that were recovered from them belonged to the company where she worked.

She said,
“It is not true that I invited the men to steal phones at my former office; what happened was that two of the men worked as security guards in my office and on December 16, 2014, when I went to the office, I found that they have used the key in their care to open the office and they took some phones. When I challenged them, they promised to sell the phone and give me part of the money, but they later attacked me and snatched my phones and bag.
The CP also paraded 25 armed robbery suspects and one Akorgwu Noah of the National Hospital, Abuja, for allegedly stabbing John Akor to death with a broken beer bottle while celebrating Christmas at a bar in Kubwa.

He said that the command has so far recovered 17 stolen vehicles, 14 of which had been released to their owners. He added that over 203 stolen cattle had also been recovered from rustlers who operated from Nasarawa, Niger and Kogi States.

“The suspects will be charged to court after investigations are concluded,” Inalegwu said.
