An Egyptian passenger plane, EgyptAir MS181, has made an emergency landing on Cyprus after being hijacked by a man wearing a suicide vest.
The hijacking of the flight which was en-route from Alexandria to Cairo and carrying 82 passengers and a crew of 7, was confirmed by EgyptAir on Twitter at 7.40am GMT.
Former European Commissioner for Education, Androulla Vassiliou, tweeted that hijackers have demanded that authorities leave runway 'in order to release women and children passengers'.
