A 7.8 Magnitude earthquake has hit the Ecuador’s central coast, killing at the least 77 people, damaged homes, knocked out power in a city hundreds of miles away.
The earthquake that struck on Saturday night injured nearly 600 people, as the death toll is expected to go up.
A state of emergency is in effect for six provinces, but Glas urged those who left their homes in coastal areas to return, as the tsunami alert had been lifted.
