Music Artiste, Runtown is in fresh trouble with record label!

Douglas Jack Agu, better known by his stage name Runtown, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer with a diverse musical style mix of hip-hop, R&B, reggae and rap but he is presently at war with his record label, Eric Manny Limited over contractual issues.

This was revealed through a set of letters written to Eric Manny by the singer through his lawyers.

According to the letters, Runtown claims there was a threat made to his life. He also said he was unfairly treated by the record label.

From all indications, Runtown is now set to leave the label owned by billionaire businessman,Okwudili Umenyiora as he claims he has returned all properties belonging to the label.

However, the label has gotten a court injunction from the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos directing that he can't perform at any event or any form of recording for the time being unless with the approval of Ericmany Ltd.

Ericmany presently holds the copyright to all his music. He was sued on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical shows without the knowledge of the label.

Ericmany was said to have invested millions of naira on Runtown. However trouble started when he, allegedly connived with Bug Media ran by one Bugwu Aneto, to sideline Ericmany and collect money directly for shows without the knowledge of the label. Bug Media is also a party to the court case.

On that development, Ericmany has also sacked Bugwu Aneto as the GM of the company, for infractions which might not be unconnected with his alleged connivance with Runtown to shortchange the label.

Runtown was allegedly misled by Bugwu, to ditch his boss and benefactor Ericmany.
