The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Abaji command have intercepted a truck carrying substance suspected to be Indian hemp at an Army checkpoint in Abaji, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
The truck, with registration number LGT500XA, was intercepted during a stop and search operation at about 2:00a.m. on Saturday.
“It was while on a the stop and search operation that we suspected the truck was carrying some substance which we suspected to be Indian hemp and we ordered the driver to drive down to our office,” a source from the command said.
He said when the vehicle was searched, over 800 parcels of Indian hemp were discovered loaded beneath the truck.
The Abaji commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Garba Shehu, confirmed the arrest, but declined to make further explanations and directed this reporter to contact the FCT command for further details regarding the arrest.
