UPDATE: The War Helicopters Belong To Rivers State

The controversies surrounding the 2 armoured helicopters allegedly seized by the Customs, which have now been handed over to the Nigerian Air Force, are becoming clearer.

Information gathered that the helicopters were imported by former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi but ex-President Goodluck Jonathan's regime frustrated and prevented him from clearing the helicopters, hence he couldn't deploy them for the state. It was all politics.

By the time Governor Nyesom Wike took over leadership in Rivers, the helicopters have attracted very high duties and the Nigerian Customs would not release them without payment.

Governor Wike tried to convince President Buhari to grant waiver, because according to him the helicopters are for security purpose only. But since it was PDP regime that blocked the helicopters when they were imported, the Presidency refused to grant any waiver.

Consequently, Wike decided to leave the Helicopters for FG, hence the take over by Air Force.
