Four suspected armed robbers have been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly attempting to strangle a victim over N60,000.
The suspects are Hamed Sanni, 33, Ifeanyi Sunday,32, Owolabi Kolawole, 29 and Muyideen Alimi 21. P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the hoodlums’ base at Five Star bus stop along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos.
It was gathered that the victim, Adegunwa Taiwo was driving his SUV along the expressway when the vehicle developed mechanical faults. He parked and came down to check what was wrong with the vehicle, the suspects came out from their hiding places and pounced on him.
As they attacked and searched him, there was an attempt to take the money he had with him in his pocket but he struggled with them and they decided to strangle him.
However, before they could achieve their plot, a Police patrol team arrived and the robbers were arrested and detained at Aswani police division.
They were charged before Isolo Magistrates with attempted to strangle the victim and stealing under the Criminal Code. They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr Oje Uagbale presented facts before the court and asked the court to sentenced him accordingly. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.N. Ogbe ordered their remand in prison custody and adjourned for sentence.
