SOUTH-EAST GOVS DISOWN BIAFRAN ‘ZIONISTS’

The South East Governors’ Forum has condemned the recent attempt by Biafran Zionist Movement, BZM, to declare the Republic of Biafra.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, made the position of the governors known yesterday after their meeting, held in Enugu.
He said: “We condemned the attempt by the so called Biafra Zionist Federation, led by one Benjamin Igwe Onwuka, who earlier attempted to gain entry into government house, for the purpose of hoisting their flag, and for invading the ESBS on Thursday, June 5, in an attempt to take over the media house and declare the ‘State of Biafra’.”
The governors also expressed shock at the death of former minister for information, Prof. Dora Akunyili, and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
The governors said they support the position of the delegates from the zone for extension of duration for the ongoing National Conference.
They promised to participate in the burial of the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, and sent condolences to the family.
The governors equally commiserated with the people of Kano State on the death of Emir Ado Bayero but feigned ignorance of emergence of a new emir of Kano.
Present at the meeting were Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Martin Elechi (Ebonyi) and the deputy governors of Imo and Anambra states, Eze Madumere and Nkem Okeke, respectively.
