The Keke Napep driver, Goswin Ekpo, the husband of late Idongesit, who was shot dead by policemen at Ijegun area of Lagos over bribe has died in the hospital where he was receiving treatment for the injury sustained from gunshot.
According to his brother, Godwin died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where he was taken for treatment early morning of Saturday.
The victims were shot by a team of policemen attached to the Isheri Osun Police Division in Alimosho Local Government Area, when they were returning from a church programme on Wednesday. They were in a tricycle (Keke Napep) belonging to the family when the incident occurred.
Godwin met a police checkpoint at Obalagbe bus stop, where other tricycle riders were being reportedly extorted by an eight-man police team.
As they approached the bus stop, a police officer identified as Aremu Musesiu, reportedly opened fire on the tricycle when the couple refused to give the cops bribe. The bullet pierced through the tricycle back side and hit Idongesit, who was breast feeding a three-month-old baby. She died at the spot while Godwin who was also hit by bullet sustained serious injury and was rushed to Ikeja General Hospital where he eventually died.
