Edo House of Assembly Impeaches Speaker, Deputy; Political Thugs Invade House

Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoro, has impeached. Edoro, a member of the All Progressives Congress, was removed alongside his deputy who is also a member of the party.

Members of the House consequently elected Elizabeth Ativie as the assembly’s first female speaker.

Moments after news of the speaker's impeachment filtered into town, some deadly political thugs stormed the assembly complex, causing commotion as people scampered for their safety.

Police and other security personnel later brought the situation under control.

At the end of the saga, the Speaker was impeached by 16 of the 24 members of the assembly. #politics
