Mother of Lagos ACP Kidnapped by Gunmen in Rivers

Madam Rebecca Igbe, the 80-year-old mother of Lagos State Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Batran Igbe has reportedly been abducted by unknown gunmen.  Rebecca was kidnapped on Monday in her community in Omuse, Elele Alimini, in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The gunmen, according to sources, had stormed the area at about 9pm, shot sporadically before they went for their target, who was in a shop opposite her house. Rebecca was said to have appealed to her abductors, who insisted on taking her away despite her plea to be left alone.

It was, however, learnt that Rebecca’s abduction on Monday was the second time she would be taken away by kidnappers in 2015.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, said investigation was ongoing with a view to rescuing the octogenarian.
