The driver of a 2010 Toyota Camry and his female companion were on Tuesday burnt to death in a road crash in Abuja. The identities of the victims could not be immediately ascertained, but the accident was said to have happened around 12.45am at the Central Business District.
The car appeared to have been on high speed when it lost control, hit a tree and burst into flames. The man and his woman were reportedly trapped in the car wreckage and subsequently burnt to death.
It was gathered that a relation of the driver, who was passing by, identified the car number plate and phoned other family members who came to the scene.
The engine of the car was displaced from the mounts from the impact of the vehicle against the tree. It was learnt that only the victims’ legs and shards of burnt bones were recovered from the wreckage.
The heart-broken relatives later left in a blue Honda CRV, taking away what was left of the deceased.
