Boko Haram Ambushed Soldiers, Senior Officer Feared Dead

Fleeing residents and security sources have said there was another attack after the weekend bloodbath by the same islamic jihadist where around 30 villagers were killed. The numbers of casualties are still sketchy. Soldiers are among the people feared killed by the group.

The members of the deadly Boko Haram sect have killed a Lieutenant-Colonel and other officers during a battle with the Nigerian army.

They attacked a military convoy at a town along Bama/Konduga axis.
Sources in the area say the soldiers were traveling in a convoy of 3 Hilux cars when the insurgents appeared unexpectedly and opened fire on them.

While some Boko Haram fighters were killed, a number of the troops received serious wounds as the militants were believed to have outnumbered them.

The dead Lt. Col., who was one of those with serious wounds, gave up the ghost after battling for his life. Several other lucky soldiers are currently receiving medical treatment.
