All Passengers From Russian Plane that Crashed in Egypt with 224 On Board Were Killed

The doomed plane
Bodies belonging to 100 passengers on the Russian jet that crashed into the Sinai desert in northern Egypt this morning has been recovered. This is coming as Egyptian security forces also announced that they heard voices inside the wrecked fuselage of the plane.

The aircraft, which had 200 adult passengers, 17 children and seven crew crashed less than 25 minutes after it took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Reports suggest the pilot was attempting an emergency landing at El-Arish international Airport after he warned air traffic controllers that the aircraft had developed 'a technical problem'  and he needed to
land as soon as possible. The aircraft was descending at more than 6,000 feet per minute shortly before the impact.

Egyptian authorities confirmed that 'casualties' were being evacuated to local hospitals. A total of 45 ambulances have been sent to the scene.

The aircraft is believed to have broken into two sections after the jet crashed. Early reports said that the bodies of five children have been recovered, still strapped to their seats.

Ambode is not weak,he wanted to treat Lagosians like real human beings-Lagos APC Chairman

The Lagos State APC chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale has reacted to insinuations the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode is weak and unable to handle Lagos like his predecessor. In an interview with Saturday Sun, he said

I don’t agree. I believe Ambode is on track. What I can say is that the blame should be put on some Lagosians who are abusing the good nature of the governor. Ambode wanted to treat Lagosians like real human beings, and that is why it appears as if he has been taking it easy with Lagosians. His own belief is that Lagosians are mature people, and that government needs not to be too strict with them.
He thought that Lagosians must have imbibed a new spirit, and a new reawakening carried over from Fashola’s era which would have ensured that excellence put in place by Fashola continued, but most Lagosians through their actions have betrayed Ambode.
This is very disappointing. See okada riders, they are back in large number going beyond where they were restricted to. They are now virtually everywhere, constituting an eyesore. What about the BRT lanes? The lanes have now become an all-comer affairs with danfo drivers, okada riders and even military officers in uniform shamelessly driving on BRT lanes.
Ambode wanted to be civil with Lagosians, but now that some Lagosians have betrayed that trust, Lagosians will soon see a new Ambode. They will see the other side of him. Our party, APC, is not happy with these few misguided unpatriotic elements that are violating the laws.
Now with the cabinet in place, sanity will be restored. We will not fold our hands while hoodlums and other dubious elements constitute themselves into a nuisance.
Ambode has assured us about his intention to deal with this problem. If you say you want to treat people as mature and adult men and women, but they prefer to be treated like animals, then you apply the law on them. Lagos will continue to remain centre of excellence as it was under Tinubu and Fashola. Ambode will take Lagos to greater heights. The governor will not turn Lagos into a jungle. In the next few weeks, Lagosians will see a change.

Photos: Policeman who killed my mum must die too- 14 yr old Tennis star cries out

For 14 years old Angel Macleod, October 26, 2010 may remain indelible in her mind for that was the day that a policeman murdered her 38 years old mother, Beauty Nwankwo, at a Lagos hotel.

A rising Chevron tennis star, Angel had returned from Accra, Ghana, the previous day, after participating in a tournament and mother and daughter were lodged at a guest house somewhere at Victoria Island.

Circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder are still shrouded in mystery but reports said that the late Beauty may have had an altercation with the killer mobile policemen and in the scuffle that ensured, the armed man cocked his weapon and fired point blank, killing the woman in cold blood.

Angel is actually yet to come to terms with the development as she still finds it difficult to believe that she will never see her beloved mother again, forever. And to compound her problems, Angel does not really know who her father is, that is if one actually still exists.
“I just keep thinking that it’s not true,” Angel cries, noting that, “every time I think about it, I just break down and life feels strange without her. My father is not here. I don’t know where he is. I don’t know who will replace my mother.
“When my mum did not come back the next day, I tried calling her and all of a sudden, my auntie, auntie’s husband, my mother’s friends came to my room and asked If I was okay and I said yes. I asked them where my mum was and they all looked at each other and said that she had gone to the village but was not picking up her phone calls. I said okay. Then every ten minutes, the receptionist would come and ask if I was okay and in case I needed anything, I should come and ask her. It was really strange. I tried to call my mum for the last time but she didn’t pick and I called my auntie to verify if my mum was in the village and she said that she was leaving the village now“It was then I knew that something was wrong because my mum can’t just go to the village and be on her way just like that. It takes hours and hours to go the village and she would not go without telling me.”

Apart from her dream to rule the world of tennis, the late mother was all she had. Beauty had prodded her on, leading her to various tournaments both within and outside the country, preparing Angel for a possible role in the future as a tennis star.

“The killer doesn’t deserve to live any minute longer,” Angel said adding that “the only way he can pay for his crime is to pay with his life because what he did was devilish and evil and I can’t believe that a policeman can kill my mother just like that.“We did everything together, went out together, attended tournaments together. She helped me with my studies and was virtually my engine room and I don’t know what I am going to do without her. I don’t know how I will cope without her around me again.”
Still in tears, Angel wants to see the corpse of her mother before burial, “to actually confirm that she is dead.
” Then she has another request – to see the policeman who killed her mother. “I am not going to do anything to him. I just want to see who killed my mum,” hopefully before he faces the wrath of the law.

In about three years from now, Angel is expected to go
professional, a development which may attract global attention as in fact, she says she is determined to be the Maria Sharapova of African tennis.
“Just because my mum died does not mean I am going to stop doing the thing I love most, playing tennis. Since I was a kid, she was the one who brought me into tennis. She always pushed me to struggle harder for success and I am going to keep on fighting. Her death won’t bring my head down as far as tennis is concerned. Her death will push me on because that is her dream for me.”
“I try not to think of it but every day, I get phone calls from people around, in Africa, my mum’s friends, some of the coaches who trained me, contacted me after reading the news. It’s hard not think of it, knowing she died at an early age. She is with me in the spirit.”

PDP Leaders Set for A Showdown with President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari, the judiciary, INEC and the DSS has again come under fresh attack from the opposition PDP over the party’s recent electoral reverses in Rivers and Akwa Ibom States.

The PDP accused the Buhari administration of politicising and compromising critical institutions, including the judiciary, DSS and INEC, for the purpose of subverting democracy in the country.

The party’s national caucus, rising from an emergency meeting in Abuja on Thursday, said:
“The undue interferences by the executive arm of government in the activities of the judiciary, legislature and INEC, using the Directorate of States Services (DSS), is clearly unacceptable to the PDP as well as the Nigerian people and the party resolved to vigorously resist such.

“The PDP finds it offensive and provocative the judiciary’s handling of cases involving it in election tribunals in some states, particularly Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Imo, Taraba, Ogun, Plateau and Lagos.

“The conclusive evidence of external influence on the Rivers State governorship election tribunal is the fact that it was able to deliver its judgment within 24 hours in a case that had nearly 100 witnesses, 1,000 pieces of documentary evidences and nine counsel’s final written addresses; each not less than 40 pages.

“The decision, in view of the rather interesting history of the case, indicates that the judiciary, like the PDP and the Nigerian electorate, are victims of the APC-led Federal Government.

“The tainted judgments of these tribunals, which are evidently products of arm-twisting from the nation’s security operatives under the direct command of an APC member, remains unacceptable to us”.

PDP leaders vowed to “vigorously resist” the “undemocratic tendencies” it attributed to the President.

Photos From Another Robbery Scene on Eko Bridge in Lagos

The spate of armed robbery incidents inside Lagos traffic is getting out of hand. Another robbery happened on the Eko bridge inwards Costain around 9:45pm on Friday night.

Robbers stopped cars in traffic with cutlasses and guns, robbed them live from car to car on the bridge. Their valuables; phones, bags, cash were taken. Some were even injured. Police, wake up! Another pic:

Wickedness of neighbours pushed me into robbery -suspect

One of three armed robbery suspects paraded by the police in Lagos, Babatunde Segun, aged 21, who resides in Ayobo, a suburb of Lagos, has confessed that wickedness and selfishness of neighbours and people he met in Lagos pushed him to armed robbery.
His accomplices are Bala Mohammed, 19, and Toheed Ashimiyu, 18, from Lafenwa community in Ogun State.

According to the police, the three-man gang were wheelbarrow pushers before they allegedly embraced armed robbery for quick money. They specialised in tearing down the mosquito nets on windows and doors of victims who are mostly tenants in ‘face me I face you’ rooms, one bedroom and parlour arrangement, rooms with facilities en suite called ‘self-contained apartment’,one-bedroom flats, two-bedroom flats, three-bedroom flats and shops

According to the Nation, the source added that the three suspects operated on October 15 at about 3.30 a.m. at Johnson Joseph and Akinlade Streets in the Ashipa area of Ayobo, Lagos. When they reportedly turned into a nuisance with incessant armed robbery criminal activities, the officers and men of Ayobo Police Division captured one of the suspects and transferred him to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Explaining the role he played in the affair, the first suspect Babatunde said:
“It is the wickedness and selfishness of our neighbours and the kind of people we met in Lagos, including hardship that we go through everyday in doing our ‘barrow pushing and the harassment we are subjected to every day by different Task Force who either ask us to pay costly ticket , and outright seizure of our ‘barrow sometimes that pushed us into armed robbery business. If you are hungry, nobody is ready to listen to you not to talk of helping you with a loaf of bread.”
The second suspect, Bala, said:
“We are not armed robbers. We don’t carry guns. We carry cutlass just to force victims to submit whenever they want to attack us. Normally, our victims do not know that we are operating because we do it quietly. It’s only those who don’t sleep deeply that see us sometimes and we run away without challenging  them. We don’t even like to do anything that can awaken them to avoid alerting neighbours that we are operating.”
The third suspect, Toheed, said:
“My brothers refused to help me so I decided to push ‘barrow to do ‘kaya’ work at Alaba International Market area and other areas I could get load to carry.”
It was the Indian hemp that we normally smoke before we start work and at close of work that made me to join Babatunde and Bala to form net-tearing gang. I had wanted to stop but the phones and money we used to get in every operation made net-tearing work better than ‘barrow pushing.”

Orubebe Reacts to Allegations: I Sacked My Aide who Accepted N20m Donation for Church Project

Seven months after his attempt to disrupt the announcement of the results of the 2015 presidential polls, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Peter Godsday Orubebe, will be arraigned before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on November 9, over alleged false declaration of assets and acceptance of about N70million bribe.

During final collation of the 2015 presidential election results in Abuja, Orubebe accused the then Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC National Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega of bias and partisanship and disrupted the exercise for several minutes in an attempt to stop Jega’s falsification of results.

According to reports, it took the intervention of then President Goodluck Jonathan for him to back
down for the exercise to be continued and completed leading to the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the polls.

Barring any last minute change, Orubebe will be arraigned before the CCT on November 9.

The four-count charge filed on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) by Peter Danladi of the CCB on October 8, 2015, is currently pending before the CCT.

CCT’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Al-hassan, who confirmed that a charge was pending against Orubebe before the tribunal, said summons was served on the ex-minister on October 29, adding that the tribunal has scheduled his (Orubebe’s) arraignment for November 9.

These ‘re fabrications against me – Orubebe

Speaking on the issue, Orubebe, who said he will address the media tomorrow, dismissed the allegations as false.

His words:
Former Niger Delta Minister, Elder Godsday Orubeb, has denied allegations of graft leveled against him.
He said he did not demand and collect bribe of N70 million from a contractor handling a skill acquisition project for the ministry when he was minister and does own the plots of lands in Asokoro and Kyame, as alleged.
He said it was one of his aides who collected the sum of N20 million from the said contractor in aid of a church project in his community without his knowledge.
Orubebe said that when he got wind of the money he quickly ordered his aide to return the donation to the contractor and also punished his PA for collecting the donation without his authorization.
On the land said to be owned by him in Asokoro and Kyame, the former minister said he could not have laid claim to such plots of land having donated them to other persons.
“I cannot lay claim to plots of land I had since donated to other people and moved on in life. I have an image and integrity to keep and none of the people who know me can say that I have ever collected a bribe from anyone,” the former minister said.

How I was robbed –Mercy Aigbe-Gentry

Lat week,it was revealed Mercy Aigbe lost her expensive phones after a robber disguised as an electrician had access to her shop and stole some of her belongings. She told Saturday Beats
“I normally would not want to dwell on the matter because I cannot regain what they stole from me but I want people to learn from what happened to me. I was doing some repairs in my shop and I asked one of the workers who fixed the aluminum to help me get an electrician because I did not know any. He agreed and shortly after, someone claiming to be an electrician arrived. I showed him where to work and I left the shop for about 20 minutes.

“I don’t know how the guy broke into my office but he stole my two phones, a blackberry passport and iPhone 6plus. I thank God he did not cart away my money. He ran away immediately he took my phones and before we knew what was happening, he had disappeared. The aluminum guy claimed that was not the electrician he sent to me and till date, I have not seen the guy. Investigation is still ongoing but I am devastated because of all the contacts I have lost. Unfortunately, I did not back up my contacts,” she said.
The actress said that the thief broke into her office at a wrong time because this is a time when she really needs her contacts.
She said, “I have a private screening of my movie, Victims, tomorrow and as I have lost my contacts, I don’t know how I would follow up on my guests. It has been a major setback for me but I thank God for the strength to cross the hurdle. I have learnt my lesson and anytime I buy a new phone, the first thing I would do is to back it up.”
