GOV. SUNTAI’S CASE WORSENS

The health of the injured Gov. Dambaba Suntai of Taraba State has deteriorated; now he is about to be flown to the United Kingdom, for treatment. Suntai is being moved to an unknown hospital , according to well-placed sources, who also said the governor would be out of the country for a long time.
The sources said following the worsening of the governor’s health ,in past few days , his doctors and members of his family as well as his aides decided to fly him abroad for diagnosis of what our sources claimed had to do with ‘significant brain damage’.
Preparatory to his journey, his aides are working frantically to renew his travelling documents which have since expired, before he could leave Jalingo, the state capital, in a private aircraft for Lagos, where he would board a flight to the UK. He would have travelled out before now if his documents were valid.
Suntai, who was involved in an air-crash late October 2012, was flown to Hanover, Germany, where he received treatment. He has remained physically incapacitated since his return to the country.
During his departure, two days after the air crash which almost killed him, Suntai was flown to Germany and during his stay abroad, residents of the Taraba State were alleged to have been kept in the dark about his health condition – beyond a barrage of propaganda by his aides that he was making remarkable improvement and recovery.
Revelation later emerged that Mr. Suntai had suffered brain-damage but this attracted flaks from the governor,s aide who could not provide evidence of the governor’s recovery.
Thus , upon his return to the country , he was not allowed to resume duties as the chief executive , a development which led to a love lost between the governor and members of Taraba State Assembly, who insisted that the Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Umar Garba should preside over the affairs of the state as the governor is not fit to be at the saddle anymore.
This has created a tensed political atmosphere in the state as the governor’s loyalists often complain of ill treatment by the deputy governor and the leadership of the state house assembly .
Early this year , a group, the Taraba Peoples Vanguard, in Kaduna, alleged that the deputy governor, had issued instructions curtailing the movements of Governor Danbaba Suntai and his aides, including restriction of visitors to the recuperating governor.
The group led by Chief Lidua Bako and Shawalu Garba, National Coordinator and Secretary of the group respectively, also dismissed media reports that Suntai had visited Abuja to confer with President Goodluck Jonathan on his bid to return to power, saying he actually went to see his medical consultants and to meet with Gen. Theopheluos Danjuma (rtd) and other important indigenes of Taraba State.
The statement, in part, read: “We, the Taraba People’s Vanguard across the 35 states of the federation, have followed with very keen interest political developments in our state from the time governor, Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, was involved in that unfortunate air crash which the Almighty God, in His infinite mercies, rescued him from death. Unfolding political developments in the state since that time has been very shameful and especially the recent moves to hijack the free mandate given Governor Danbaba Suntai by the overwhelming majority of Tarabans.
“It is quite disturbing that on 14th January while Muslims were busy celebrating the Ed – Maulud holiday, Deputy Governor Garba Umar of Taraba State convened a State Security Council meeting where he read out the following riot acts: That all the security aides of Governor Danbaba Suntai be transferred out of Government House, Jalingo.
“That henceforth all visitors to Governor Danbaba Suntai must be approved by the Deputy Governor, the Commissioner of Police or the governor’s younger brother, Babangida.
