Former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, says his successor, Nyesom Wike, knows that he has little appetite for money.
Amaechi said he chose to shun the judicial commission of inquiry set up by Wike, due to its illegality.
He said the governor had already proclaimed him guilty in the presence of the panel members, hence he would not honour their invitation until an independent person or body was called to handle the probe of his administration.
Amaechi said this on Saturday, while speaking with his supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.
The former governor would also criticise the rate at which the Rivers state governor, was running from church to church.
“Nyesom Wike was not afraid of God in the past; he never went to church. Today, he is going on bended knees to the same God we worship. Don’t take God for granted because if we don’t go back to God to remind Him, God may answer his (Wike’s) prayers.”
“I have been listening while in Abuja to Nyesom Wike accusing me of corruption and I laugh. Even Nyesom Wike knows that I don’t like money, he knows that.”
“The pressure Wike is putting on us is to let somebody call us together to a meeting to withdraw our case challenging his election from court. The party has a right to go to court. The law of Nigeria says there is no independent candidate. Even if I, Amaechi, Peterside withdraw, APC will carry on with the case.
“The funny thing about the young man is that he knows I know him. I was his governor, I have documents to show that he is a contractor. I am not a thief; so I don’t know what this young man is talking about.”
