Former NTA ED, Yaya Abubakar Dies at 73

Former Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), former executive director, News, Nigerian Television Authoryty (NTA) Malam Yaya Abubakar, has died at age 73 after brief illness. He left behind a wife, five children and his aged mother.


He was the General Manager NTA Bauchi in the eighties, pioneer chairman of Gombe Media Corporation  and chairman  Board of Trustees of Bauchi State Television, BATV.

Funeral prayer for the deceased was led by the Chief Imam of Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque, Bauchi, Sheikh Ibrahim Idris. He was laid to rest at the Bauchi Central Cemetery amidst tears from relatives, friends and many broadcasters who witnessed the event.
