On Thursday, Lagos State government urged an Ikeja High Court to dismiss with substantial cost a suit filed by the Registered Trustees of Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, challenging the verdict of coroner inquest into the collapse of a six-storey building within the church premises on September 12, 2014 that claimed 116 lives.
The government prayed the court to discountenance the church argument stating that the issue of wrong heading of the nomenclature of the coroner mentioned by the church was a mere irregularity which cannot render the proceedings of the coroner invalid.
Registered Trustees of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) told the court that the Lagos State coroner court under which the church was indicted over the collapse of six storey building within the premises of the church does not exist in law.
The church also prayed the court for a judicial review of the Lagos State coroner system.
