The seven-man panel constituted by the acting Chief Justice of Adamawa
State, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, on Monday swung into action despite
the public holiday declared by the state government.
The Registrar of the High Court, Abubakar Babayola, had earlier told
journalists that the inauguration of the committee was not a requirement for the commencement of the panel’s job as it could not be found anywhere in the constitution.
The committee then went ahead to commence its maiden meeting amidst tight
security at J & J Holiday Villa located at Atirwucha close in Karewa GRA of the state capital.
Many residents have expressed discontentment over the turn of events in
Adamawa, as they contend that “investigative panel is usually
inaugurated.”
However, journalists have been barred from covering the maiden sitting as stern
security men, keep watch over the venue of the sitting.
