Update: Jonathan’s Lawyer prosecuting the case against Buhari

Information reaching us indicates that the lawyer to Max Ozoaka, the plaintiff in the case challenging the eligibility of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, in an Abuja court, is the personal lawyer to President Goodluck Jonathan.

He is Ade Okeaya-Inneh, SAN, and is the same man who is appearing for President Jonathan in the eligibility case pending in the Court of Appeal against the president. The judge in this matter, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, is a personal friend to Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, and is alleged to be "soft" within the law circles.

It is well known fact that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has never lost a case before him.

Our source in the presidency, who spoke to our correspondent, insisted that they will stop at nothing to truncate the democratic process if the signs of a possible loss at the polls continues. The chief architect of this attempt is President Jonathan, who has embarked on a series of legal manipulations to stop General Buhari.

Apart from the legal processes, the presidency has been sponsoring print and electronic adverts calling for election postponement to scuttle the planned February 14 presidential elections.

Lately, the ruling party has been desperately shopping for lawyers of the Yoruba extraction and favourable judges to file and sit on the cases brought up against Gen. Buhari, all in a bid to stop the humiliating defeat they envisage in the February 14 Presidential election. A top Abuja lawyer (name withheld) was recently approached with millions of dollars by a representative of the Fuel Subsidy Cartel to prosecute a case against the General but declined the offer.

It is believed that more than the politicians in the ruling party, cronies of the president, along with those directly benefiting from the corruption and disorganisation in the petroleum industry and the military, are most afraid of a Buhari Presidency. There is said to be palpable fear amongst the president’s handlers that the game is up, hence the last minute moves to either keep the APC candidate off the ballot papers or postpone the elections to allow the negative publicity against him to gain some traction.

So far, the ground swell behind a Buhari presidency has been unprecedented, with every online poll indicating a landslide victory for the General and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Despite negative propaganda against him, the support for the Buhari-Osinbajo ticket has suffered no loss. Meanwhile, the President has been stoned in Katsina, Bauchi, Adamawa & Taraba states, all under the control of his party.
