The police in Oyo State are investigating how an alleged bite by a housemaid, Elizabeth Fatoki, led to the death of her employer’s neighbour.
According to a source, the deceased, identified as Tawa Lawal, 30, was engaged in a brawl with the maid when the latter bit her breast, Vanguard reports.
Mrs. Lawal was then rushed to a hospital, where she died after some days.
The deceased was a mother of three.
Her children are Barakat, 15; Waris, 10; and Aliya, 2. Their mother has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
Widower
While narrating the circumstances that led to the death of his wife, Mr. Aliu Lawal, said after the quarrel during which the suspect allegedly bit her, she complained of headache and pains at night.
He explained further that she was rushed to Alaafia Hospital, Mokola, Ibadan, where she died later.
Doctor’s diagnosis
The doctor, who attended to her on arrival at the hospital, Dr. Adedamola Odebode, said tetanus infection could not have been the cause of her death.
The suspect was said to have gone into hiding after the unfortunate incident.
