Respected human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, in a letter to the Nigerian State Security Service demanding the immediate release of Shiite leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, revealed that the Muslim cleric lost his left eye during the Shiite clash with the Nigerian Army in December, 2016.
Falana alleged that the doctors are battling to save the man's right eye. His letter reads in part:
“As a result of the brutal attack, Sheikh Zakzaky lost his left eye while doctors are currently battling to save the right one. To compound the physical pain and mental anguish that our clients were subjected to in the circumstance, the Nigeria Police Force and State Security Service have held them incommunicado for the past three and half months".
