Gunmen rob family conveying remains of son killed by robbers



Gunmen  suspected to be robbers, operating along Eku-Sapele road, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, weekend, robbed a family conveying the remains of their son, Efe Onosakponwha, who was a victim of the last Wednesday’s robbery attack at Eku by over 20 gunmen.

The incident, Vanguard gathered, occurred at about 5:10 p.m., Thursday, around Okerekpo axis of Eku-Sapele road while members of the Onosakponwha family, including mother of the deceased, were transporting his remains from Warri General Hospital to Eku for burial.

According to a female member of the family, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the family drove into the robbers who disposed them of N90,000 cash and other valuables, despite the presence of a corpse in the car.

 “Oweing to the gravity of the gunshot wound Efe sustained, he was referred to the Warri General Hospital for treatment where N110,000 was demanded for treatment.
“His mother went back to Eku to source for the money but was only able to raise N90,000. Upon her return, she was told that her son, who was shot on the buttocks, with the bullet exiting through his groin, was dead.
“It was while they were transporting the remains of their son back to Eku that they drove into the robbers who equally rob and disposed them of their cash and other valuables despite the presence of a corpse in the car.”
The late Efe Onosakponwha in his early 20s, was a student of Samagidi Secondary School, Eku.
