After several weeks of trying to meet with the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, over his political troubles, the embattled Senate President Bukola Saraki finally had a private meeting with him which lasted for about two hours inside the Aso Rock presidential villa.
Aides of both the Senate President and the Vice President were not allowed to be part of the meeting.
Saraki cried out to the Vice President about his travails since emerging Senate President and asked him to help get forgiveness from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Presidency.
President Muhammadu Buhari and APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, have ignored Saraki since then.
Already, Saraki is being prosecuted for false declaration of his assets by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, a trial, he and his supporters claim is a witch-hunt but have failed to defend the charges.
A presidency source who divulged the meeting to LEADERSHIP Weekend stated that the he was sure that the Senate President’s visit had the trappings of a private meeting, seeking soft landing.
“I think the Senate President came to complain to the vice president of the unfairness in his trial since he was not getting the ears of President Buhari, more so that vice president Osinbajo was the lead counsel when former Lagos governor and APC’s national leader, Bola Tinubu was being prosecuted on the same offence of alleged false assets declaration,” the source said.
A source told Isaiahakomor.blogspot.com that VP Osinbajo told Saraki to watch his mouth and respect his leaders, but was said to have added that the Presidency cannot stop his trial, he must defend himself.
