PDP in Confusion; 2 Judges Sack Both Sheriff and Makarfi As Party Chairman

The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party is now more complicated as two Federal High Courts in Lagos and Port Harcourt issued two separate orders, which had left the party without a recognisable leadership.

In Port Harcourt, where the PDP National Convention was held on Saturday, a Federal High Court affirmed the resolution of the convention which sacked the former acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and other members of the National Working Committee of the party.

In Lagos another Federal High Court nullified the Ahmed Makarfi caretaker committee, asking the police to enforce the order if the members of the panel attempt to parade themselves as officers of PDP.

The court also recognised the embattled Sheriff, General Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, and the National Auditor of the party, Alhaji Fatai Adeyanju, as officers of the PDP.

The court in Port Harcourt had granted an interim injunction restraining Sheriff and Oladipo from parading as national officers of the party pending the determination of the motion brought before it by the party.

Sheriff, Oladipo and other national officers of PDP were removed from office at the National Convention in Port Harcourt on Saturday, which equally dissolved the party’s National Executive Council.

Now both INEC and Nigeria Police are confused over PDP's house of cards. Who is now the chairman?
